Does anyone know anything about Chalk Mountain Services hauling frac sand? I think they also haul water out of Mansfield. Or does anyone know what may be the best company to go with hauling sand or water? So many options. I'm looking at the Midland/Odessa area, Ft. Worth, San Angelo or anywhere in between. I guess the Eagle Ford can be an option as well. Thanks to all.

My son lives in Prairie Lea between san marcos and luling. Sometimes my daughter in law leaves during the summer and goes north cuz her and the baby are so miserable. My son works in the oilfield on the north slope and has to be gone for 6 weeks in the summer (normally 2 wk on 2 off tho). I want to haul water and am sniffing out nd but then i started reading this thread... things sound like they are hoppin down there.... I was thinking of moving to luling and looking for something, but i'm sceered of the snakes

I can just see it.. be gone for awhile, come home, stick my hand in the laundry basket and there i am dead as a doornail from snakebite
they've got great shopping there tho, holy cow. its a female's delight!Last edited: Dec 5, 2011

Snakes are rare. And they are more scared of you than you of them. If you are nasty housekeeper with food and water everywhere then you will have mice and rats. Then you might have snake. I moved out of Ft Worth in 95' Have a couple acres just W. Have had on copperhead in all these yrs. He was little and I whopped him with a concrete come a long and he was gone. There are some big snakes in TX. But where there is a lot of activity like oil rig they won't be very close.

I've been here since Feb, 2011 and haven't seen the first snake. I have seen a few wild pigs and the occasional coyote running away off in the distance. Then there's the wild truckers. Need to be leary of them, they're wild!

I have seen my share of rattlesnakes in Texas but the largest one I ever saw was crawling across a ranch road a few miles west of Cotulla. That snake was huge! Walked close to a smaller one of 52" the next day. This was some years ago and in January. There are a few around and just have to be observant.

You're not helping.
Older lady that lives next to my son came across a coral snake and whacked it with her hoe. -
Where do you live, I'll come and stay with you

Some of those truckers might look funny and others of them might even stink
but they ain't nothing to be sceered of. I am a female trucker and have never been bothered by them.
Course i don't mingle much either. -
i went to the Robstown Jobs Fair today. There were a lot of companies, mainly looking for drivers. i drove over to crystal city to an uncle's house and on the way i seen truck after truck pass by me. i think i'm gonna hit up carizzo springs tomorrow and see if i can find something close to crystal city. it would suit me best. i spoke with a few truckers at a couple truck stops, from the sounds of it, everybody is hiring. at least that is the vibe i was getting. just thought i'd share my experience today. good luck everyone!
