not to argue, but I am, you better read your lease agreement...
You can NOT purchase that tractor at the end of your lease, unless it is past the thresholds Paragon sets for sale of their equipment. Must be 3+ years old, and over 400,000 miles. This is NOT a lease/purchase. You may purchase any tractor at paragon's market price, that they have listed for sale at the end of you lease.

And Paragon Leasing may replace your tractor with any other tractor of their choosing, with like mileage.

You may NOT personalize the tractor without prior written authorization from paragon leasing. It is their tractor.

They are taking advantage of you, and you think it is a good idea, due to the hassle of changing trucks... It may be weeks before you get routed to Dallas on the truck recovery... and all that time you will be paying storage fees for you precious t660. Then you will have to fly, or bus ride back to NJ, at your expense to recover your truck...

You do "rent" the truck from them, as this is a use and return lease. They have total control of their truck.

TLEA is correct on that. This is NOT a lease purchase. This should have been made clear to you before signing the Lease Agreement. I know it was made clear to me anyway.

In my opinion your best bet is to get them to just swap you into another T660.

    TRKRSHONEY Thanks this.

What is the relationship between Paragon and Alliance?

Paragon is an entity inside of Stevens, who buy the trucks. Then they lease the trucks to Stevens. I believe Steve Aron's wife is shown as the owner of Paragon Leasing.
Alliance is another entity inside of Stevens, which is the leasing operation for lease operators.
It all has to do with Federal tax law.

    DenaliDad Thanks this.

I know it's not a lease/purchase, but there is a clause in there about purchasing the truck after the lease is completed.

I understand what you guys are saying about just getting another 660, but there is a lot more to it than just signing another contract. What am I to do with all of my stuff on my current truck? I'm sure some of you can remember what a pain in the ### it is to always be swapping trucks, and it would involve me swapping twice in less than a week. I will be getting a load straight back to Dallas or somebody else can recover the truck. I have been reassured by my DM that that is what is going to happen...besides, I'm sure safety is ready to see me by now. Cat also said that she doesn't know if she would even have any 660's when I get there, and then she would still have to recover my truck.

Got it...I think. Stevens company drivers drive Paragon trucks and Stevens lease drivers drive Alliance trucks. Can't tell the players without a scorecard... :biggrin_2551:

Actually we all drive paragon trucks. All trucks are purchased by paragon and then leased to either stevens transport (company) or to the indivudual drivers on the alliance program.

I understand where you are coming from. And i do not trust a word a DM says about getting me to the yard or home. Me personally i would wait for my truck to be fixed. That is my choice as an alliance driver. And we would work out the breakdown pay. I would know that part of the cost of being off the road was my choice. Then they could get me and the truck to the yard.

Makes me want to park no less than 100 yards from the nearest motor vehicle...
