I have an approval for hire from
JBS
Roehl
and am interested in
Marvin Keller
Schneider
Central Refrigerated
Any thoughts on those companies?
My situation is that I'm single, no family. I don't ever need to go home, I just want miles, and am willing to reset on the road. I'm most concerned about good equipment, and a good trainer. Am I asking for too much?

I remember reading jbs got in trouble for log violations with their drivers in other words jbs wash pushing them to work more than dot regulations etc and were forced off paper logs and onto electronic logs ..central has a fairly good training program and reputation schinder is much bigger amd has more to offer but I don't think they train anymore but they do offer tuition reimbursement as for a good trainer I think it is luck of the draw ..I had a very poor trainer..didn't know how to chain had a had time trying to figure out which way to slide tandems to scale a load..not able to trip plan and on and on ..u sound like an ideal recruit if u can stick with it u will have a marketable job skill that is in high demand amd will be for a long time to come

What, no Central Sleeping Bags for Xmas?! If you are a team you can only keep one in the truck because they weighed 400lbs a piece!!!
Congrats Leatherman! You are a rare breed! Not many drivers make it past their one year mark! Good job man!leatherman Thanks this. -
So informative thanks. So, advice needed again. He's been sitting in Kansas for three days waiting for a load that he's going to drive 1900 miles with. Not enough for one week, but it's a load. Now he finds out when he's loaded and ready to go, that they're pulling him off of that load to give to a team and giving him a 500 mile load for the week. Is there anything that can be done about that? I think I officially hate Central now. -
Welcome to trucking! Sometimes this just happens. One really good reason why it takes staying out at least 4-6 weeks at a time to make any money. When you slow weeks you need to make them up with good weeks. Central isn't purposely doing anything to your husband unless he isn't up to par. You also need to realize he is a new driver. So there is seniority factor. The last thing you want is to complain to his DM! Hang in there, its going to take some time.

There is no reason to be siting for three days any where unless broken down I would be on the qualcom to my dm and the cell phone calling for a load . I had the fontana manager try to take one of my 3000 mile loads and give it to a team I told my dm no way I would. Deliver on time and there was no reason for me to give up my load ans that I had a wife a family to provide for..as far as seniority goes I never had that come up and don't think its right the driver who can dp the job gets the job..I was given a business card by wally jensen who personally told me to call him if I couldn't get a load he is the director of eastern operations in centrals hq at west valley city in utah his ext is 7188 call him tell him your a driver who wants tp work has hours to work ans your dm hasn't found u any soerhing will happen
Dm are not god though they think they are make them work for u that's their jobtrkrswyf, jess-juju, marlowhy and 1 other person Thank this. -
While waiting for an oil change I ramble on some more my first month solo was feb I had presets the whole month and over 10k miles in what is supposed to be our slow time this is dec there is lots of freight all over kansas has a lot of freight I have been sent over 300 miles dead head to get a load
When you deal with anyone always use yes sir no sir be respectful if u act like trash u will be treated as such I have been out one year and have treated people that way and have been treated well in return
Well out of time hope tbe future is bettertrkrswyf Thanks this. -
Leatherman, its hard to tell what is really going on especially without hearing from this guy. Usually if someone personally chimes in we can drill them until we find out the problem. Hard to do when we are getting hand me down facts from his other half.
Trkrswyf maybe you can have your other half jump on the forum and we can maybe help. This is the busy season so its a little strange to be sitting. Has he been giving his DM a hard time? Do you know his driving habits? How long is he staying out? If he is requesting home time short of 4-6 weeks then that is a good indication of why he might be sitting. What happens is that if he wants to be home more his DM will keep him in a certain area just giving him short runs here and there and delivering and picking up other drivers loads. The drivers willing to stay out for long periods of time will get the miles.
Not at all accusing your husband of any of this, just throwing out some different scenario's. The other factor maybe that he is just new and his DM may not feel he is quite ready to run full force. You do have to really hustle out there and be very proactive for yourself otherwise you will get looked over. As soon as you receive your load info you should be letting your DM know exactly when you can get there and be planning for the next couple loads. If he gets a 5 day load is he doing it in 3 or taking the whole 5 days?
Maybe see if you can a little more info and we can help you out.
