Just wondering if any of you know if it is possible to buy a used truck directly from a trucking company? Most of them replace their trucks and sell them directly to a dealer, but is there a way to buy one before it is sold to a dealer? I have no idea if it is something they do, but we are trying to buy a truck and it seems that the dealers want too much money, maybe if we cut the middle man we can get a better deal.
Thanks so much for your time!

Not trying to be a downer here but I just read your other post. My personal opinion is that your hubby should get some experience and see if he even likes trucking before you do this,

I'm sure it's possible, start contacting companies with trucks that spec out the way you like.

Schneider, Werner, Celadon, TMC, and JB Hunt to name a few sell trucks directly.

My company used to lease Ryder trucks. Believe me, they are FAR from all being maintained like they claim to be!

A common phone call by myself would go something like this: "Good morning shop manager, just want to inform you, again, that a couple of our trucks have been 35,000 miles now since you've seen them...."

And Ryder can care less who drives their trucks. I was driving one at 21, after having my license for about an hour, lol. We have always owned and leased trucks, the ones leased from Ryder were constant headaches due to lack of attention.

Just my experience.....maybe they have changed in the past few years since we got rid of them?

    Meltom Thanks this.

I have driven for companies in FL , GA , and KY that leased from Ryder . All the locations gave great service . They were more strict on drivers than my employers were and checked MVR's of all .

Guess the locations in the NE can care less, not what they do at all.

I'll never forget he last one we had. Was leaking coolant badly for quite some time, sent truck in to shop. When I needed a truck back to use, their solution had been to tie a bunch of jugs of coolant to the catwalk and send our driver on his way! I took pictures of it, was so amused.

Truck went through all the coolant, engine overheated, had to be towed, etc......that was Ryders maintenance program!

In fact I knew who they sold that truck to, another business we deal with. The engine blew within months of him having it, gee can't imagine why???
