Greetings,
Well, spent the last 25+ years building a little business that has been all but wiped out by this "downturn", so time to hit refresh.
Some of my favorite times over the last 9 years have been driving my little Hino FB, and for a variety of other reasons, I figured the trucking industry would be a great fit.
Will finish my Class 1 around the end of January and welcome any suggestions, advice. Being on Vancouver Island makes things a little more challenging, but I expect a potential employer is going to see a lot of positives in hiring me. We'll see soon enough!
Thanks!

I agree, don't do it. The companies make it sound so great, and it is.......providing your dispatcher is honest. Remember, the dispatcher is really the one who controls your income, and you have to rely on his/her honesty. The dispatcher can offer you the worst/least paying loads and "his butt" is covered because "he offered you a load" and you turned it down to wait for a better paying load, that "never came". Not only that, but you usually have a contract stating that you "have to haul only their freight", which puts you totally at their mercy. So, don't put yourself in that position. You are better off waiting til you can do it on your own.
