Can someone Honestly tell me how you can survive in this business as on owner operator with own authority getting paid rates of $1.20-$1.50 per mile?
when you have to pay for your own fuel, insurance, etc etc

Why are freight rates soo cheap?

If that is what you are hauling for, you can't. Most that make it in this business are seeing better than $1.80/mile on all miles. That is for vans.

Rates are not cheap, your just running for cheap ### brokers or shippers. If your running for around $1.20 under your authority stop it.

Your being used! If i can get you too haul for chump rates! Then your the dumbsheet!
Thats how brokers see it! Most dont no there true costs! And to me theres a price for my sacrifice! "no home life"!
Only thing you can change is your minimum rate you haul for!
By the way theres always dumbsheets in an out of this biz!
    Nothing but a revolving door!

I can't break even at $1.50 for all miles. We're doing .40 to .50 better than that with both trucks. I came home empty 200 miles rather than lose money hauling freight at the rates being offered. Although it's hard to bite the bullet and just go home for free, I'd rather stick to my guns than haul a load for "fuel". Once you get labeled as being a "cheap date" it's hard to get a good rate from those brokers that know you'll fold. I have a decent load out tomorrow so I should still be good for the month and be home for Santa.

If you know someone hauling for $1.20-$1.50 per mile shot the SAB oh I cant say that on here sorry I take that back(fingers crossed) but you would have to be real stupid to haul that cheap I have been averaging $3.23 all miles the pass few months but I only run between 700-1300 mile a week havent been over 250 miles away from home in months
