I dont like the sounds of that, just installed that cam in a 6TS, hope this doesnt happen
-
not sure what to try next trying to work and work on the truck went to ny today not sure if in hurting it running this way keeps me off the pedal anyways
-
What is this engine in? Does it have a fuel pressure gauge in the dash? I have heard of the piece inside the snubber coming loose and getting stuck in the fuel lines or the head and causeing a fuel restriction. By the way I have two marine cams in and they both run well.

This was your original post.
Now with this post my diagnoses will be a fuel starvation problem
You're constantly saying to us that the engine will not rev to the governor while trying to accelerate while driving, am I correct in this thought?
DO NOT WORRY ABOUT WHAT IT DOES WHILE NOT DRIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
yes you are and no it won't rev to governor in any gear bobtail or not breaks up around 2000 sometimes 1700 1800 range and it will not rev in neutral in the same rpm range i can make it go past 2000 in neutral but it cracks and pops and puffs black smoke on each crack or pop i did blow all the lines out the filter heads and the head it self lift pump is new and all fuel lines are new
-
If I remember correctly the program in your ECM will only rev to 2120 at high speed idle, but will rev to 2300 while the truck is moving.
Are you trying to accelerate or are you maintaining a high engine RPM with no load on the engine while bobtailing? -
where does a guy check fuel pressure at
-
well no if i try and run though the gears it starts the missing most of the time around 1900 to 2000 rpm start to blur out or miss and pop does the same loaded but if i push the pedal real slow in neutral it will rev to 2300 and stay there till i lift if i jump on the pedal it pops and cracks does the same in gear
-
I'd be willing to bet you have a bad injector, bad injector wiring harness, bad engine wiring harness, bad ECM, or a fuel starvation problem at the cylinder head.
You need to have someone in the truck with you while this problem is occurring with CAT ET to turn the injectors ON/OFF individually to narrow it down to a particular cylinder
