Headed to stockton CA for a live unload. Stopped at fernley NV to pick up chains and the shed is bare. Tire shop says they have had no chains since thanksgiving. Sure glad the weather is good now just have to hope and pray that CA is not checking to see if we are carrying any.

I finally got preplanned on a load headed to Cheyenne, WY tomorrow and delivering on the 18th. The yard has no empty trailers available, so they had the white lease trucks running around DFW picking some up today. My 5 week trainer was here at the yard, so we went and grabbed lunch and caught up since we were both pretty much stuck due to the lack of trailers. I just really hope that Stevens is able to get me back here next week so that I can get home.

You do know where you go from cheyenne. The meat patch. and nothing from that area goes to texas. Stay on top of them Flight. If things work out I will be delivering to cheyenne on the 19th. And then it will be home time.

I know, and that concerns me. I do have my own plan as far as loads go.
    1: Wal Mart to Cheyenne
2: Pallet load from Loveland, CO to Garden City, KS
3: Meat load from Garden City, KS (or Liberal...or Dodge City) to Laredo
4: Import load to DFW and/or repower meat load to Laredo in DFW depending on time and day.

The big kicker in that is the meat load. It needs to be ready by the time I get there, or at least #### close to being ready for this to work. If Stevens starts to get stupid with me, then we are going to have big BIG problems. I already told my DM that he better not let me get stuck out there. He said he wouldn't...we'll see.

Well, survived DC and Landover MD where I got loaded for San Antonio on Monday.
That beltway traffic is inexcusable. What's with that? For or five lanes and no obstructions or construction, but stop and go all day long. Freaking insane.
Glad to be on 81 with wide open roads ahead for three days. Well, except for the loops around the major cities, which after DC will be a cake walk.
Scraped a truck in Newark Tuesday while backing into one of those places built in the days before WWII for 42" trailers and daycabs. Barely touched it, but left a black streak where my tires scrubbed his bumper and a gray streak where the trailer touched his fender. No bends, no scratches, no cracks, but I'm sure I'll have the same old DVDs to watch and probably a 'test drive' around Dallas to do when I hit the yard next time. sigh.
Fleet 50 promotion. No major damages and nothing on the roadways, and nothing DOT reportable. No traffic tickets or bad Merkels or weight fines. Yet, hopefully never. Probably make PO3 at least though.

Is there any particular reason why I should choose Stevens over any of the other companies that train? I've done some research on Prime, Roehl, FFE and a couple others that arent worth mentioning and all have their problems and their upsides. I'm not too worried about the training part of it and home time as much as I am about the weekly mileage..What are you current drivers averaging a week lately? I havent talked to a recruiter for Stevens yet, but what should I expect? Whats the starting pay like? Any info would help a lot. Like a lot of others, I'm risking a lot here, leaving my family behind here in SC and I would like any info that would make or break us..

Any info like mileage, pay per mile, route lanes, type and condition of trucks, fees that arent mentioned upfront, toll fees, lumper fees, taking the truck home, etc.

And no...you are not researching. If you were actually researching, you would have never asked your question ;)

Appreciate that...I have done some research, just not much on Stevens. Their website doesnt say a whole lot like their pay and such. I cant exactly talk to other drivers on there, thats why I'm here asking around. Guess you could call it bumming. Best way to find out how one company is doing is to ask drivers that are with this company right now. Shoot, I've even read the rip off reports, but that doesnt tell me a whole lot if they're all pissed off like any other company driver. I can say most of the problems I've seen so far have been with lease operators. Think I'll stay away from that for awhile, or better yet just buy my own truck and lease it out..After some time way down the road.
