As a Central driver I'll tell you that there is more money to be made than on the website. After three months of proving that your not a rock with lips join a dedicated fleet, that can boost your pay 3 to 7 cents a mile depending on which fleet you join. Keep your idle under 20% add another cent per mile, run hard and reach your goal miles add one more cent per mile. Deliver on time there is a $10 bonus per load, attend your safety class and watch the videos $75 per quarter, stay out of an accident $500 per quarter. Always claim your detention pay, if you don't document it and request it they're not going to correct your mistake.
Not to advocate Central but there are ways to up your pay.
How to get paid less: be a rock with lips, refuse loads, argue with your DM and be unreliable; then watch your miles drop to about 1100 per week.
As for getting good loads be reliable! Be nice to your DM. Preplan your trips know route and what to expect, communicate everything especially if there is an issue. Get to know the load planners for your fleet call and visit them. Kiss up to the load planners, bribe them if you can, taking them out to dinner or bringing them a small gift works wonders. Also BE RELIABLE!!
One last piece of advice, Don't sign a lease contract until you are sure trucking is what you want to do and you are sure you are with the right company. Take 1-2 years at least to be sure.
All the best to you in your trucking future.

IDK...I did 88K at Linde this year, home 3-5 nights a week and weekends/holidays off..And I am one of the "lazier" drivers..I prefer to just stick with 5 days a week..jlkklj777 Thanks this.

Someone out there probably has done a list it... lol
I think you just got to get experience and then try to find that place that fits your needs the best... -
And PLEASE don't take this personally...This is NOT directed at you per se..But the trucking industry thrives on people that consider ANYTHING "gold"...In doing so, you contribute to reducing wages for all of us..Your "new", they count on your cheap labor...28cpm is disgusting and nothing but exploitation. There is NO driver shortage, just a shortage of drivers willing to work for garbage wages...And again, please don't think this is directed at YOU, it is NOT. But, this is the problem with this industry. As you get time and miles under your belt, you will see (when YOU want more money) that this is the problem you will face. An ever increasing flow of the jobless/homeless/desperate that the trucking industry counts on in their race to the bottom..jakebrake12, bucksandducks, ironmule and 1 other person Thank this.

Please...I don't kiss anyone's ### for a job..LittleJon, 7122894003481, scratchinpost and 1 other person Thank this.

It's advice, it up to the individual to use it or not and you forgot the double emphasis on "Be Reliable". Courtesy, politeness, a couple bucks on a souvenir gift or ordering a pizza to share can buy a lot of good will. I'd much rather that my people back in the office are happy to see me than going "Oh sh#t" as I walk in the door. This industry is full of piss and vinegar types that like to say "I told them how I was going to do it and to go #### himself if he disagrees". I much rather say "I got paid". Being respectable keeps my family sheltered and fed, it allows me to get them nice things for Christmas. Central is a stepping stone and soon I'll be moving on, but in the meantime I will do what it takes to make my money.

Another driver said it earlier u can make money doing tanker work but some or most companies depending on the terminal will treat u like **** ..... I'm back to doing tanker work and its long hours but not to much physical work involved and I get treated very well by the whole company... since its a small operation I know the terminal manager and the other office workers are family. I left Fedex freight where the money was really good but the work was killer.

I work for one of these driver mill companies making 27cpm, started at 26cpm. I'm sorry if I'm driving the rest of your wages down, but your companies will not hire drivers without experience so where is a driver to go to get this experience? We go to a bottom feeder.
I have no intentions of staying here. Once I have enough experience to become viable to a good company I will be gone. But don't hate me for having to start at the bottom. Not everyone grew up in a trucking family, or had the options you did.
I'm not singling out anyone indicidually btw.
