@American-Trucker:
Thanks! I hadn't thought of that for some reason.
@Roadmedic:
Ok thanks. So it's best then I purchase an all in one scanner.
Thanks Lilbit! -
There was a thread on here about Neat Receipts I think.
I use a scansnap 1500 I think. I keep it at home and it is a high speed quality scanner. -
Why not just record the NJ miles when you cross the state line only?

Thank you for the advice! I really appreciate it!

Because you are going to need your mt miles which start when you get to the receiver
American Trucker -
why do you have to break out mt and loaded miles
-
You don't need to separate emty and loaded miles for IFTA reporting. You may want to do it for your own records. It helps when you are looking at loads to know your true rate after including deadhead miles. You also want to make sure to have a written log of your odometer reading when you cross state lines. I know a carrier that was fined by not having the actual odometer reading on paperwork. All miles must be reported to IFTA by state whether empty or loaded.

To help record and keep track of each state's mileage i always just used Google maps and clicked from state line to state line and wrote it down for the route.
Also, the Rand McNally GPS units have that function already built into them and it automatically records each state's mileage for each trip. The T/A has them on sale this month for $299 (510)
