I keep hearing on the news, that the new proposed legislation against texting and driving, was brought about "by a Missouri truck driver, who caused a fatality accident, by texting 11 messages, in 11 minutes, while driving". What really burns my biscuit, is that the media describes this 19 year old, PICK UP truck driver, as a "truck driver"!! It's misleading, and false, to portray a stupid teenager, as a professional truck driver!! It's bad enough, that people view truck drivers in a bad light....but to add this kind of thing to the image??? WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!! :biggrin_25513:

It'slike the pick up driver in florida yesterday who ran head on into a Tractor trailer and the news report described it as the tractor trailer Barreling down the interstate. It's the media's goal to tarnish every truck driver on the road over any incident they can.

I did several term papers while in college and the majority of people have no clue about life on the road or what it takes to be a driver and what the driver faces everyday.

My OTR experience is only four years and my job I hauled explosives and other related hazmats.

The media loves phycho gunmen and truckers and anything that can be misquoted as news because it gets peoples attention and it then means ratings.

You're right- that's why I get my news off the internet. Whatever is on the television is usually crap for television addicts.

Not sure of what sites you use but like yahoo or google links stuff from say local stations and or cnn/fox so that is as bad as seeing it in real time. I catch news as I can.

Media looks for ratings, for advertising purposes. Bad news sells. Sensationalism sells.

It's more sensational to talk about big trucks and their driver's being at fault in accidents, than it is to talk about a pickup truck and it's driver. It's just a fact of life.

And a very good reason to NEVER trust anything you hear or see in the media.

NOTE: Good to see you here JudiKay! Where have you been?

They showed that school bus parked on top of a tractor, and the idiot had been texting. It only takes one miss-deed and everyone gets tarnished.
I was trying to get the radio to program one day and found myself partially in another lane.
