Okay, so Im not going to slam Gordon too hard... they did have some positives, it just wasnt a good fit for me. First off I was impressed with thier method of transportation to orientation... they flew me, and that was nice to not have to sit on the bus all day. Decent hotel room, very clean, good breakfast.. they bought us lunch same thing all 4 days.. thats right 4 whole days of mind numbing fall asleep orientation..They have some wild ideas I think, they want your truck clean on the outside, but wont pay for truck washes, and no wash rack at terminals, so bnext Gordon Truck you see that is all clean, and shiney, that driver paid out of his own pocket to make it that way, OH and if your truck does get dirty, they wont dispatch you untill its clean, but they refuse to pay to wash THIER Truck.... Okay last day of OT, get a ride with another driver to go pick up my truck, he was about the worst driver Ive ever sceen, some parts were just funny tho. so get to my truck at like 3 am.. reaks of smoke, nasty mattress, and no keys.. so I slept in the front seat no heat, and it was quite chilly that night, but Im fluffy so I managed. Get my first load and I have 3.5 days to go 800 miles ( Okay its the weekend, no call for alrm just yet ) deliver monday, I get a local that takes me bout an hour or so, then I get a whopping 300 mile run to deliver next day. the comes tuesday get my load and yet again 3.5 days to roll bout 900 miles.. then dispatch wants me to go to Los Banos to load a broker load ( what could go wrong there ) but it had some good miles on it so I was all about it, untill I found out that I was only riding it a small hop to the terminal, and another driver was gonna get my 1800 miles that I say all day and loaded for... then wants to make it up to me by giving me a Northwest load 800 miles with yep you guessed it 3 #### days to roll it... So for those of you with no bills, and want a job that you dont really have to run hard Gordon is the place for you, however if you have kids, and a mortgage, and need to run to make your life happen, might want to consider other carrier.. thanks for reading.

Trucking is a fickle business. You need to look at the whole picture. Like quarterly or year end income. Because, this time of year is slow, not every load is a 1500 miler. Jump ship, sit around the house a week or two, go thru the process again and wait a couple weeks for a paycheck. Not too smart.....

If you are getting 800 mile runs with 3 days on them I can tell you what your income will be at the end of the year, crap. This frt is slow is bs at a company the size of Gordon. The frt is slow down south in the winter because that is where all the fair weather drivers hang out and company's like Gordon hire more drivers then they need to make it easy to cover what loads they do have . When I stayed N of the 40 I ran my butt off in every slow period. Just got to be willing to drive a all weather op.

@Stoney.. Yes I did leave, when I secured other employment.
@Allow me, I understand about looking at the bigger picture, however this is supposed to be a busy time retail ( which Gordon claimed is thier primary product ) is booming untill after xmas. Its not just the short loads, its the fact that I was hired on the understanding that I was going to run a 40 state region, only to find out that 95% of the east bound loads go to teams, and I might get one now and then, so when I say something about the long load times, and not going east Im told thats the way it is, and the way its going to be...thats thier operation method..
@Bigblue, you are exactly right my first check afetr taxes, and road money, I sent a wopping 200 bucks to the house, next check was 350... I could work at McDonalds and make more than that, and be home everyday...lol

You are right you should quit tomorrow and go work in Mcdonalds you are wasting your time with Gordon it probably wont pick back up its a mystery how they have so many happy drivers that just blows my mind, or wait...maybe its your attitude and they are sizing you up and don't like your complaining attitude so they give you crappy loads.

Could it be that your FM was starting you out a little slow to see how you did with O/T delivery and so forth. Just a thought. Did you talk to your FM and ask them for something a little better.

I know it sucks to sit around and not make money, but you may have to work your way up.

I see that you've been a trucker for 12 years, there should be a lot of good companies that would jump at getting a driver with that kind of experience, even companies that pay better than McDonalds and still get you home every night. LOL

I had to move away from a Gordon at this truck stop I'm in. When I went to dinner, there was a nice, quiet parking lot hauler next to me. When I came back, I hear skrEEEeeeeEEEEeeeeEEEEeeeee.... I first thought something was wrong with my reefer unit. Then I thought there was something wrong with his. Only he's not hauling a reefer. It's the squealing belt on his APU. Doesn't seem to bother him. Everyone else can go to h***.

So, I went. To the back corner of the lot. Away from him.

That's what I like about truckin. If you don't like the neighborhood, you can move....and take your room with you.
