For real. I just went through orientation, 17 in the class, 2/3 sent home without jobs, 2 of us had been hired by the time I left. Signing documents electronically for who knows what. Congratulations! Here's another bus ticket, go recover this filthy truck. 3 hours at Burger King waiting on the bus. 5 hour lay over at the Chicago terminal. That was last week, Monday I get to go back to where I picked it up so that it can be further serviced.

My husband had to recover a dirty truck too. He made a whopping 63 dollars that week because he had to wait all week for them to clean it out. I mean he couldn't sleep in that thing the way it was, so he couldn't work.
sweetdaddy915 Thanks this. -
Your husband has made a horrifying mistake. In this day and age it will be difficult if not impossible to recover. Merry Christmas
-
Well I surely wasn't expecting anyone to sugar coat the situation, but I think to say that he made a horrifying mistake and that we will never recover from it is quite harsh. You don't know me nor do you know of the obstacles that I have recovered from. A bad trucking job doesn't mean crap compared to what I have conquered. Maybe you can't recover from bad decisions, but we can and will!!!! If you have children or ever plan to, I surely hope that you teach them to not be such a quitter like yourself. Merry Christmas to you too by the way.

I don't know what prompted that last remark. Indeed, the landscape of the country is changing. People are hoping for some pie in the sky recovery but from what I can see with the international banking mafia and the corruption of Congress, the fundamentals are not there for any significant, long term recovery. But, we're still a long way from what much of the rest of the world is doing to survive. In the future we'll probably see more multiple family homes, shared automobiles, a return to a lot of the basics of life. Considering people actually watch Jerry Springer instead of demanding that he be strung from a tree, returning to the basics may not be all bad.
The thing about the dirty truck is weird. I still slept in mine, where did your husband sleep? Also, if it means sitting a week, I'm out there with a scrub brush or simply turning it back in, I'm not sitting a week.
Plenty of laments on the board here regarding many trucking companies. Just think of all the clerks and cashiers you see everyday and most of them aren't grossing $400 per week. Trucking can be difficult, but there is a reason I haven't just taken a job with the McDonalds two miles up the road.
Trust Jesus. You already know you can do it. In fact, I'll take my own advice...

dirty truck meaning someone elses mattress with trash all over it.

My husband and I have decided to stick this out as long as we can. We have 3 small children in the home and 5 kids in all. While he may not be bringing home loads of cash there is only one way to go from the bottom right? Everyone told us that starting out is rough and they were right. But I think if we keep the faith things will get better.

Definition of a Truck recruiter: Out of work used car sales person!
I hope you have read the thread on how to properly quit a company! Read first before making a jump!

I remember the first truck I got at Crete. Had to go to Bakersfield Freightliner to get it. Had been sitting there for 3 months waiting for repairs and parts, etc. I could smell the 3 month old pizza sitting on the bunk before I opened the door....
