Was hoping to use this as a place to share info about the region.

W/S , T/S, S/R, Road Construction, Etc.... these topics and more
Knowledge is power. The more info we share, the easier (or at least less frustrating)it would be to do our jobs.

Driving a big truck...living the crazy lifestyle of a trucker is really complicated with the DOT rules regarding driving time. Case in point...we were setting up to hook to a trailer when we noticed some oil that had splashed from the center of one of the drive wheels...obviously an oil seal had broken and we had to stop. We were at a Home Depot distribution center...they were not wild about us stopping there...especially since we might get oil on their parking lot. We had 4 hours left in our 14. The clock was ticking. We called emergency maintainence at Our company...who told us to sit tight...about a half hour later we got a call saying that a "local" TA was going to send a guy out to look at it....probably fix it right here... We have 2 assignments left for today....our dispatcher cancels one of them...wants to know if we can do the other....the clock is ticking....2 hours go by....we stuck inside a large fenced in distribution center yard...the guy from TA finds us....takes a look at it...and says that we would be better off driving the truck to his truckstop so he can fix it there...we dont have authorization from our company to move the truck...we call for approval...we're down to 40 minutes on our 14. The truckstop is 40 miles away. Out of time...broken truck...undelivered assignments...akkkkk!
We hop into the cab...and drive to the TA....we're down to 2 minutes on the 14. The Qualcomm starts beeping.....flashing...the unemotional woman's voice says...."you are in violation of DOT regulations...."(warning...warning). You are the captain of your ship...right?
One hopes so. We got to the TA with about 8 minutes into the red on the DOT clock...the truck went into the center bay for surgery...we waited in the restaurant...midnight...the surgery was done...operation was a success...now....now we're finishing our 10 hour reset before we go home for Christmas. Whew
