This may also be a reaction to the big wreck last week just east of Columbus?

could be, but a few weeks ago there were three seperate wrecks/road closures in a 24 hr period. One of which was a hazmat deal I think.

It's a money grab. They were on US 35 as you crossed the river from WV into Ohio. Also in the first rest area and up by Jackson.
I am in the process of fighting a marked lanes ticket I got last week. Pulling doubles in the rain on US 35 in Jackson Co., Ohio. State Trooper "observed me" go across the center line (4 lane road) once and hit the rumble strips twice. Asked if I was tired but never checked my log or me in general. Just took my license and came back with a ticket.
Here in Columbus there is public outcry about the number of semi accidents. When there is one that shuts down a road or ramp all the comments on the news sites are how drivers are horrible, need more training, only let them drive at certain times, etc. Nevermind that statistics show that in Franklin County semi accidents are DOWN 30% for the year. We had one yesterday that was caused by a SUV driver who was cited for failure to control (BTW, that's what the OSHP use when they suspect distracted driving but can't prove it) and the comments on the news sites were still that the OSHP must have ticketed the wrong driver.
