Bear report

Face it...Some cops are the "Hall Monitors" who never grew up.....

 

I don't know about now but several years back when I ran I-84 through CT drivers avoided rest areas there . Bears would park there and demand a driver's logbook when he got out of the truck .

 

AZ DOT does that at the Texas Canyon Rest Areas....
MT on the 94 before the ND border has a coop at the rest stop...I have never seen it lit up.....
So what's the problem?

If you are legal...Hand the logs and smile as they tell you to have a nice day.....

 

NC rest areas do the same thing. I avoid them completely!
Waking a driver up to do inspections is BS!

I stopped in one years ago to run to the bathroom,came back out an DOT parked in front of my truck waiting on me.My log was caught up and everything legal but it turned the quick bathroom stop into a 45 minute ordeal...

 

A show of hands....How many have been awakened by DOT on their "10" before?
How many times?


I have yet to have a DOT do that....
Once a Sheriff's deputy knocked on the door because a woman working the rest area by Spearfish thought I had been there too long....She thought I might have a had heart attack and croaked....
I have had more people wake me up early in the morning asking if my load of pipe was their load....That's more annoying.....

 

Once for me.I think it was up in the Northeast....been years ago.
I have seen NC Dot do it. The day they checked me 2 other bears were knocking on truck doors.

 

I've seen bears in several states knocking on doors of trucks where drivers decided to take their 10 on an off ramp shoulder . $300 wakeup call .

 

Had one in Colo. do it to me a couple years back, stopped on an on-ramp for a quick nap, wasn't 15 min. and he knocked. Just gave a a quick "hi how are ya" and left.

 

There's a shortage of safe truck parking...Parking on the ramp isn't the best choice...But...We have to do what we have to do.....
If that proposal for the new HOS goes through..We're going to see a lot more trucks parked on the ramps...

Oh well....The morons in both government and in Public Citizen, have nobody to blame but themselves and their stupid rules.....

 

And you know many of those ramps in CO....Especially the 70 between Parachute to Glenwood Springs, have wide spots and trashcans beside the ramps....Hmmm....If they didn't want us to park there...Why put a trashcan there?....
