Hiyas everyone!
I have my orientation set for the 3rd of January. I'm currently signing up with as a pre-made team. A fellow classmate has agreed to put up with me!Plus 2500$ sign-up bonus helps! (Yes, it only gets paid after you've been with the company for 1 year).
But I'm having concerns.
I'm extremely nervous; I've read posts about people getting to orientation and then being excused... I don't have any medications I take, I'm prior military with an Honorable discharge (Vet). I'm in decent physical condition (I could afford to lose 10-15 pounds... but hey, who couldn't?), I am a smoker, but one demand from my team mate is that I quit as soon as we start teaming. (For the money we are going to make, I'll wear a dress if he wanted).
I'm decent at backing, and excellent driving (I didn't scare my instructor..... to bad.... So my quesiton is: What are these horror stories I am hearing about people going to orientation and being dismissed? What could have possibly happened that the company would spend time to get you up there, and then simply dismiss you?
Any information that could calm my nerves would be grateful!

physical test
drug test
employment verification
background check -
Physical Test: Assuming DoT? If so I've completed one for Roehl (had to cancel for U.S. Xpress.)
Drug Test: Drug free for 12 years now.
Employment verification: Do I need to bring my resume?
Background check: DMV record is clear and never had anything on my record other than very old speeding tickets.
But one thing I must ask, which is kind of apparent.
When I first arrive [at day one orientation], should I dress as if I'm going into sterotypical job interview? Or dress in jeans and a tshirt? Should I bring my resume with me, or just contact numbers from my employers? -
Gun where are you going to orientation at? My team partner and I go on the third in Irving TX...

Your team mate is demanding you quit smoking? I give you guys about a month...LOL
You take a DOT physical even if you have a current medical card. You also have to do the physical capability tests. You'll find those described in some of the other orientation threads.
You should have all your past employment info handy. A resume is not neccesary.
It doesn't matter what you wear.
Get the dates for all those old speeding tickets. They won't matter, but if you don't mention them it could be construed as lying. -
I was hired on. I've been training for a few weeks and can't wait for my upgrade! :
It's been awesome so far, but I was stuck being trained on the Family Dollar Dedicated.
tons of practice backing though so no worries!

Hey gun so how was orientation? My wife and I are signed up for CDL school for March 19th and we want to come to USX so bad but scared as hell of getting sent home for something... I've heard stories of good and stories of bad...

I would say that is a real possability... My team partner and I went to their orientation... Do not believe the recruiters, They told my tp and I over and over that something on his background would not be a problem, that it was too long ago. So we switch to them, go to orientation, had drug test and physical on the first day and half way through the second day they call him out of class and kicked him out... We asked them why and they told us both that he did not meet their qualifications. We then asked them why have us go through all of that and then decide and they said they don't do any checks till you are in orientation....
I would say they are very good to work for from what I have heaard but you have to get through orientation... I walked because I do not want to work for someone that has no integrity. Not for someone that will tell you anything and have you quit another job just to get you there and then find out that you do not qualify... Thats just my opinion...
But if you have clean backgrounds then I would ssay go for it, But if you havee anything on it then I would think long and hard before you decide...
