Because they gave him the "option" to drive his clunker out of the safety zone!
Should have followed the advertising...."Leave the driving to us!"![]()

I sack up and rent a car. Period. Take the reimbursement for the bus ticket value and eat the rest of the cost. Its usually not that much. It prevents the hobo from gagging on you on the greyhound and if you break down, whichever company you rented from will be responsible for fixing it. Usually rentals are brand new for the most part so never really run into mechanical issues. If you do, they bring u a different car.
Rollover the Original and Lonesome Thank this. -
"unemployment check"....you must have missed that part!

Then he should have took the bus. If his finances don't agree, then take the free route. So now he's stuck with the gas and repair bill
Proper planning prevents piss poor performancetdcanterbury67, jcroom76, otherhalftw and 3 others Thank this. -
it was the A/C compressor indeed. Stupid thing is due to the fact that it's pretty much linked to mostly everything else in an old ford mustang (VIA the Drive Belt), it pretty much made the thing undriveable (unless you have a tanker full of pre-diluted coolant/anti-freeze and a bunch of car batteries, and are willing to drive without power steering).
My main gripe against swift is that they pretty much ignored any and all of my attempts to contact them until today. They can reschedule me after this next Wed.
Lesson Learned: always accept the bus ticket, unless your car's brand new. -
You could have still drove the car, even with a bad A/C compressor. Just turn the A/C off. That disables the clutch......
Not SWIFTS fault.
Sorry you couldnt get in contact with your recruiter, probably busy trying to get other CAPABLE people to training.
Hope things work out for the better....Last edited: Dec 22, 2011
tdcanterbury67 Thanks this. -
Most all cars use a serpentine belt that turns all the engine accessories, and when an A/C compressor fails, it fails when the compressor is turned on. IE, it has a clutch on it. If you keep the A/C turned off you should have been fine. Unless the bearing in the pulley completely failed. Never heard of that stranding a car though.
It's Christmas week, so most people well, don't give a ####. Keep trying to contact someone. They may cut you loose though, which many would deem to be a blessing! Then you can try a different company. -
Hey tinytank.....you know we are just busting your chops....right!!!?
good luck to you! -
Don't worry about it. If anything was meant to insult, I pretty much asked for it *Winks at BigRigBama*. [This is pretty much the dumbest thing I've done on a forum].Last edited: Dec 22, 2011
