Cold Temps, Freezing Up

    I'm running thur Colorado and heading towards washington (lucky me) with these cold temps that are going to hit at what temp should I worry about freezing up? Or should I worry about that when I'm driving. They say wind chill is going to be down to -25 to -35

    Wind chill is the evaporation temperature, you want -40 windshield washer fluid, and If you bought your fuel down south you may want to buy a jug of anti-gel. Other than that you should be good to go. check you tire pressure.

    Thanks... I bought some here in colorado, filled my tanks and I have -20 washer fluid I think I saw some -30, I'll pick some of that up....

    Once you get out of CO...looks like clear sailing...watch the winds across WY....Elk Mountain is a ****** especially when it's cold.

    Just checked the weather satellite...no moisture in your path outside of CO!

    dont forget to drain your air tanks on a regular and like they said anti gel and the good windshield washer fluid, if you havent done it winter winshield wiper blades and dress warm all the time or just do what i do and go to Laredo and wear shorts.

    How about that brake anti-freezing liquid?? where do you pour that in?

    You don't use that stuff unless you have ice in your lines. It is for emergency use only. Random use of it is not good.

    But to answer your question if you have ice in your trailer lines just unhook your red airline and pour a little in the line and hook it back up and supply air. It will blow it into the trailer lines and take care of the ice. If you have ice in the tractor you unhook the line off the compressor pour a little in the line, put the line back on and let the compressor push it through the system.

    Thirteen years of driving and knock on wood I have never had any problems with ice in the air system.

    Oscar the KW thanks.... These things are good to know.. Now this, I have a 99 pete and the windows on the inside are freezing up... :biggrin_2556: Is there anything I can put on them to help?? My defrost isn't keeping up..
