Be careful. If you don't do well during orientation Swift will recycle you by dumping you into a pit of brown goo like they did on "Waterworld". I know its true because I heard it from a guy at the counter at the truckstop restaurant.

I surely hope that Swift doesn't read this as it's not that hard to play detective and figure out which recruit in this time frame posted to a "Bad Trucking Company" thread in the most popular trucking forum on the internet with his home town on his profile! I doubt it's going to be a good thing for tiny!

For those of you who think taking a bus is a good thing go ahead but remember that IF you get into orientation or training and you aren't what they want because you failed somewhere in the orientation or even the training you still have to get home and they tell you get there which ever way you can and it's left up to you to pay your way then I hope you have the cash for the ticket or gas.

The shortest route to TN is 830 miles. or 33 gallons at 25 mpg. I'm not going to figure the cost in Fl!

I never take a bus to an orientation as I can't do the driving! I also don't play well with others in a cramped situation unless we all have weapons and in a foxhole!

I will drive myself to orientation with everything I need and I will have a credit card that is used for emergencies only and can cover these cases:

Gas to get home in my car or bike
A plane ticket from the farthest place in America I can be to my home.
Rental of a car from that same farthest point in America to my home or where my car or bike is sitting.
Also an emergency is if some moron BFI thinks I do not need to be home on Christmas when I had children! Their truck might not make it to my home but I bet my skinny arse did!

If you do not have the means to get home then do not truck any company to get you home if you fail their crapola.

    Now about that compressor?
    Was it the AC?
    Was the belt broken?
Did you really need the AC in this weather?
Did you figure out the difference in cost of the bus ticket to the cost of gas?
Could you have made it home in the car if orientation did not work out??

A/C compressor on a serpentine set up freezes? It locks the engine up. A friend had that happen on a 5.4 Triton Ford truck. He thought the starter was bad.

They sell kits to bypass the compressor. Just a simple idler pulley.
