Things do get better3 years ago I was making crappy money and busting my butt on junky equipment now I can provide good enough and my family is proud of me on a nice truck with a company many here will kill for. The most important thing to use is common sense, patience and this forum. Believe me every screw up you can think of is been discussed here and read, educate yourself before you become another victim or statistic of a common screw up. Tickets, incidents, accidents and service failures will end your career before it takes off and that is sad I for one dont want to see that happen to no one. Not everybody that comes in stays in thats rule #1 with trucking becareful and happy holydays.

Nope 2 ways to go at the bottom , up or sideways . Most newbies get tired of sideways and quit .

Just the facts . The only reason BFI's keep hiring is because newbies keep quitting . That's not mentioning the ones that get rejected at orientation or the ones that sit home and never get an application approved .

To the wives on here,I feel for you.But if your husbands really want to drive trucks theres about 12-18 months of hell to go thru to get the exp. that a good carrier will require to work for them.If they just wanted a job and believed the trucking ads about great money and home every weekend, then they have made a mistake.Us,jbhunt, werner, all the big cos.are set up to keep a driver maybe 3or4 mos.,use him up and theres a line of more guys chasing around to get that truck(just like mp3,but hes doing it right with a good attitude). Its a brutal buisness and that first year sucks. If your husbands really do want to be drivers they just have to stick it out and then with a good clean record you can go get that good job.Its the dues you have to pay that can get you down.I started at crengland then 6mos switched to usexpress for another 6mos and it was horrible but I knew that there was a light at the end of the tunnel and sure enough it was there. Now I was single,no kids to support or anything like what you guys are going thru,I cant even imagine trying to feed a family on what a driver makes his first year. You both seem to have a great attitude about it,so that will be your saving grace in the long run.If your husbands did this just to get a job,GET OUT NOW,go on the obama plan (just kidding). But always remember the song"if your going thru hell keep on going" good luck

I've been working for us xpress for about a month now and havnt had a single problem with them. Right now I'm only making 400 bucks a week but hey what do you exspect for training pay. Ive been paired up with a trainer that lives two hours from me so I get home on weekends and we drive dollar tree dedicated wich make sound bad because of the self unload but it really isnt nothing once you get used to it. 150 per trailer and you can easily do 3 in a week and have the weekends off not to mention the mileage. I have to admit I liked my recruiter the only thing that she "lied" about was that I was doing dollar tree instead of dollar general wich worked out to my advantage.

There you go bud that is the right attitude and you got a good recruiter that lives close to you man you lucky driver. That is also something to look at some drivers get it easy just pure luck or a blessing look at it however you want. I got a O/O to train me for a week and then let me do solo local grape hauls 100 mile radius on doubles....still brings back memories.....then he trained me doing L A to the Bay 53' van runs for 2 weeks then solo I didnt even get paid when he was training me cuz I just wanted to learn and drive! Just got lucky man I worked for him for 6 months I was ready for a better company and knew I could pass any driving and backing up test and let me tell you thats a great feeling.

Two weeks driving for free is better than 4 to 6 weeks for $300 a week with a trainer .
