Spot on right there is exactly why this crap will not work. It will essentially be shutting down on time deliveries. I predict reefers full of spoiled produce and really pizzed off shippers and receivers, not to mention people wandering around in WalMart trying to buy food and other goods and just about having a stroke when they look at the price.

Everything the government touches turns to CRAP.

Stupid Walgreens !! i will NEVER shop at a Walgreens EVER again.
Delivery scheduled for this morning at 7:30
I parked 1 hour away for my 10 hr break and roll in here at 645 this morning.
Get a door right away and Im backed in and feel them start unloading at 7:40
So at 11:00 I walk in to ask why Im still not done. It was only 14 Pallets !!
Im told they should be done in another hour. WTF?
Theres absolutely no excuse for it taking this long, and they could care less.
So if theyre done in a hour I will have burn almost 7 hours of my 14.
Then I have a pickup in Belle Glade,FL 1 and 1/2 hrs away and they are first come first serve. To be able to make it home tommorow for Christmas I need to get that load picked up and get at least 100 miles north before my 14 Runs out.
Probably not gonna happen now. Bunch of ##&***(&*s

Gotta love those live unloads. I still got you beat with Sysco taking over 4 hours to unload 10 pallets...not to brag about it:biggrin_25520: They are incredibly annoying, and I don't understand why these shippers and receivers are like that. They set our appt time for 730am...God forbid if we're 30 seconds late, but it's ok if they take 6 hours to load/unload you. And then they treat you like a red headed step child if you dare to ask them whats taking so #### long.

Anyways, I certainly hope that everybody is able to get home for Christmas, and that you all don't run into any hiccups.

Shifty: Congratulations on getting the 660. It is a great truck! It may not have as much room up front as the other trucks, but it certainly has more class! Not to mention that it rides smoother, it is quieter, lighter, and sportier than the others! Enjoy it!!

My all time worst pickup was just short of three days...in the dock.
Produce in Salinas. They had me partly loaded and kept waiting for 'another' truck to arrive with more product.
I got paid detention, and at one point even unhitched the trailer so I could bobtail over for some food.
As for unloads? Probably a tie with Target from Cedar Falls and Safeway in Denver. I got a ten at both, while sitting in the dock to be unloaded.
And corporal...you're right. They don't care.
    Sysco is notoriosly slow.
Had one pallet to pull off...30 cases of hamburger. Just this week in Poway.
I pulled it off myself because they told me it would be 'a couple hours' before they could get to it.
But the produce market in St Louis makes up for it all.
Three stops, 40 minutes all together.

Gratz dude! And don't think you're changing any kind of subject in this thread. It's meant to be random and all-inclusive. Anyone can start another thread about a certain topic at any time and stick to that.
In the Aviary thread, it's all topics.
Take care of your truck and it'll take care of you. And if it won't, get another. Drive careful and deliberate, and enjoy the heck out of the job.

I'm so glad I got off that dedicated fleet. The new rules will make it a nightmare. Not totally, but holy cow flatulence. When you have a 6am EST or earlier delivery on Mon (very often) where you can't park nearby, (nearly as often) you'll have to do Friday and Saturday 1-5am CST and you'd better have done so the week before as well, or else no reset and you're working with what hours you had last week until you can get one. On that fleet, that might mean dealing with a 4 or 5 hour day more than once from the previous week. Eww. Gonna so suxor.
It's gonna be in play on OTR too, but not as often or as rough. I hope.

Another 3,000 mile week. OTR is so much better for miles than the dedicated I was on. Home for the holidays, too. And ahead of the bills and Christmas shopping. First Christmas home since 2008. 2009 was at the school, 24th was last day of class, so my Christmas present that year was my CDL and a job using it. Wooo! 2010 was on the dedicated fleet and got a reset the day after. This year I get five days home and off the truck.
It has been a really cool two years. I missed T-days and X-mases, other holidays and events, but I saw almost the entire country and found out that I really do like driving a rig.

Merry Christmas all and see ya before the new year!!!
