I know you know your stuff, but did the driver comment right off the bat on how much easier the truck rolled because I noticed that on the first stop sign I rolled up to. The driver should notice a difference immediately and usually when the driver can notice a difference no matter what mechanically was changed, it will make a difference on paper with the numbers too.

I don't like all this modern technology, especially these low nox additions, I was just wondering why you drive those old reliable classics when you can have old reliable aero trucks with same engines? T600 have been around for years and other manufacturers have similar options also.

Yes I operate one truck of my own in international long haul. I'm maybe the only idiot out there to use 15 years old truck. I'm planning to change to new truck next year because there are places where I can't drive with the Euro 2 emission truck I have now. I also want some useful modern technic like disc brakes and more comfortable cab. Euro 5 engines don't have many problems because they don't have DPF but in a couple of years there will be Euro 6 and a lot of trouble.

Lenny, honestly I don't think it matter what cab I had in front of my dump box as far as mpg goes. With the box shoved right behind the cab and all the different this hanging of of it. T600 and the like were never designed for my line of work, low hanging parts and no room under the fenders for big steer axles and dual steering boxes or ram assist. You will see a few out there ( t600's and such ) as straight dumps but most all have been converted and don't usually work out well or stay to together long.
I have to admit, besides all those things above .. I love running my classic style. I like to take the old truck and add the modern technology, get the best of both worlds so to speak. These petes I run are made to be rebuilt and parts will be available for a long time. These new trucks here leave a lot to be desired and until the manufacturer's catch up with government regulation, they will continue to drive o/o and fleets broke. I do understand your opinion about upgrading, but the cabs and interiors are not that different and any new chassis parts I can up grade to ( actually working with local dealer and eaton about disc brake conversion) so there is no advantage to me. Imo

International long haul, well there is no reason for me to complain about regulation then, at least I only have one overbearing government to worry about. :biggrin_2554:

I really didn't want to get into this since this thread is about wheel bearings. But I would buy a aero truck if there was one available that fit my needs and caught my eye. So far the only one that has caught my eye and has the majority of my specs is the Kenworth T660. Unfortunilty this truck isn't sold as a glider kit and I will not buy the Cummins or PACCAR boat anchors.

Pulling trucker or whomever, do you know the turnaround time if you send them your own cores?

Unless your cores are mint, they e omens get the rear end or gearbox from their reman company.

They told me that turn around time was about 2 weeks, but this was a few months ago and they are far busier now.

They've got some kind of scheduled reman type deal going now and turnaround is supposed to be shorter now. I hear their drivetrain biz is growing as fast as their wheel bearings are.
