Stay away from ROEHL!!

I actually read this entire thread today, with great interest and decided that Roehl will be one of the companies that I will apply to as a newbie
The reason for that is that for every complaint different people came up with specific solutions: ... "did you call in your Macro?", "Did you notify your FM" and call in your Macro"... and I am sure that from time to time you EAT IT,... but I eat it too where I am at with my commissions at the call center I work for FROM TIME TO TIME, but as long as I FOLLOW PROCEDURE 97-95% I get what is coming to me.
NOW, it is ROUGH out there, and we just got a 20% earnings cut... they congratulated us about it!!!! They gave us a 1 dollar an hour raise and capped our commissions and told us it was in our best interest!!!! I work for Holiday Inn. So if you think that trucking companies have the market cornered on B.S.... well...

My main concern with Roehl would be: as a COMPANY DRIVER (there is NO WAY I WOULD EVER BE A LEASE DRIVER WITH ANY OF THESE COMPANIES) will a steady paycheck of at least 700 avg gross weekly OR hopefully more be there?

 

Well I wouldn't tell you to lease to roehl now a days anyway. But yes that number is easily achievable if you stay out and do a good job.

 

It sounds like a good place to learn the business and then some. I would have to stay in Utah and that is why is not my first choice (I would like to be able to take home time in San Diego... and it does not look like you can do that).
But as long as I can get that number and more I can PUT MY RETIREMENT SAVINGS in high gear... I have very few living expenses and I could use the 8K +/- tax break.
Leasing??? Nah... who knows what fuel will go up to and when this economy will heat up again...
IF I was ever to consider leasing, first I would put at least 5 years in this business MINIMUM!!!!, then, after I feel I know AS MUCH AS I CAN LEARN, if the economy is HOTTTT (I mean CLINTON HOT) and oil really stable, I would get a really QUIET and CLEAN team guy and do it for 4 years TOPS. AND I WOULD DO IT OUT OF A BOARD WHERE YOU PICK YOUR LOADS. I would not do it without those ducks in a row, and when I am in vacation, the truck goes solo and when Team guy is in vacation I go solo. Also, I would NEVER do a lease without at least 30K of ready cash in the bank the day you sign. LEASING may give you more money per mile but you are assuming ALL THE RISK in a very risky business... anything can happen in trucking -- anything.
Otherwise, you are just being a patsy for the company's accounting dept.

Too groovy, you can take hometime anywhere... I'm sure they have people from cali work for them.

 

I looked at their hiring area and no Cali, I only live in SLC, because of a job and my family lives in San Diego...

 

if you wanna run flat bed they will hire you in cali.

You can still request it. One of my Iron Mountain guys would take home time in San Diego from time to time. It's all about the relationship you have with your FM. Keep in mind, when it is outside of the domicile area it can be significantly more difficult to meet the home time request.

 

My average gross is almost $950.

As far as Cali goes, there will be more freight in the area as time progresses and the new Phoenix Terminal is more operational.
