There a Youtube channel of a guy who makes OTR videos, his first one was when he was in training with CRST and him and his trainer sat 3 days at a truck stop waiting for a load.So I kinda believe what the OP stated and I have read that CRST does that, make you want for days for a load.

Yes CRST will leave you sitting for days waiting for a load. I've spent so many 3 day weekends sitting in the TA in Commerce City Co. I should have got a job working in the kitchen, I would have made more money.

Also, don't confuse being able to pass the DOT medical exam as the same thing as being healthy. I have an irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, diabetes, and neuropathy in my feet to the point that I cannot even feel the accelerator peddle under my foot.
But the only thing they get excited about when I take my physical is the fact that I have sleep apnea. So I have to take my physical every year.

On my last physical form, the Dr. actually stated that my heartbeat was regular! I haven't had a "regular heartbeat" in over 15 years.

I finally decided for myself that I really was a risk on the road and because of that and family matters, I quit.

My point though is that DOT physicals are a joke.

Very well put there, those guys in the office have no idea and cannot make judgement on people who say their sick, but they always try, here let me, just tell em you won't stand for it and go home.

2 years with the company and I have never sat for more than the amount of time it takes to get a reset. Then again, I have done things like never been late and communicate with dispatch, so that could be my problem

I never ran the OTR deal with them but I did like their dedicated accounts. Out of Fontana anyway. Don't know what it's like in the rest of the country with them. Depends on the dispatcher too. Mine was awesome but he is no longer a dispatcher there and I got an a...hole after that. I have heard a lot more bad from there drivers than anything good. All those guys that were going through the school and then training, I felt bad for. The pay and treatment they were in for was gonna be bad! Some of the things they would say in orientation would make you wanna run to your car and never look back! However, if you can go out with a trainer and stay there for a year, you will know how bad a company can be and your next job should be a lot better!

  9. Night and weekend dispatch are notoriously bad. I remember sitting in west Virginia for about three days over a long weekend, and then again for two and a half about two weeks later. the 9 to 5 dispatch my trainer had was decent though. She always got my advances on time and got us loads in a timely fashion. One thing though, never turn down a conway load. Crst would b#!w conway at the drop of a dime, and if you turn down a conway load for any reason, including illness, be prepared to have some repercussions. That goes double for air freight!

My brother worked for CRST for almost two years when he had a medical emergency on the road almost 800 miles from home. He was so sick he had to stay in that hospital for 3½ months. CRST has done everything they can to help him out. He has been able to keep his medical insurance despite not being able to work for over six months. I don't have any complaints over his treatment by CRST.

To the guy with Crohn's: stop eating citrus entirely. Try to manage your stress levels and avoid caffeine. It is a manageable disorder and people function for decades on a near normal level with it. You will have to figure out what your triggers are and perhaps consider colostomy. I had a boss who had to deal with Crohn's. It was so painful for him there were times he would be lying on the floor doubled up and literally screaming in pain. After his colostomy, it was like he was given a new life. It took some adjustment and learning, but life was completely different for him. If yours is as severe as his was, it may be an option to consider.

When I worked for CRST I had a co-driver who caught a cold. He claimed he was dying and couldn't drive. As soon as he said he was too sick to drive, the FM told him he wasn't allowed to drive again until he got clearance from a doctor. I dropped him off in Cedar Rapids and they gave him a bus ticket home. Best thing that ever happened to me.

In the nearly two years I worked for them I never sat more than a day. That was usually because we delivered early and there were no loads going out until Monday. But I was usually part of a number one speed rated hazmat team and we talked more to air freight than our own FM.
