Yes, Lenny its in the programming. Unfortunately no one here will take the time to cure it and I'm not even sure if it can be cured at this point.
CAT uses a virtual rack measurement in the ECM for diagnostic reasons. At this point it is down to 1.2 mm of rack travel and will not go lower than this, no matter what I do. So I'm assuming this is the lowest possible rack travel capable in the flash file. Could someone stretch the low end of the fuel tables to allow for a smaller rack travel? I don't know. Would someone be interested in doing this? I doubt it. Why? Because it isn't a marketable product to the masses. It would have a very limited market, as I doubt that there are more than 5 trucks in this country that would benefit from having this type of file. With this being said, the programmer is going to charge a very large fee to cover his time.
As far as to what other people think of the idle quality, I don't care. I know what it's doing and how it's running, they don't

It smooths out as soon as you add throttle, but if you try to maintain any high idle speed it will hunt until 1565 RPM then it will be smooth until 1600 RPM. At 1600 and up it starts hunting again.
Throttle response is very crisp and the engine revs very quickly -
Contact BoostEng, he has probably done it. Why should you buy services only from USA?
It can be lowered as well as other low load points to get rid of the hunting. I'd hate to drive with an engine like that, especially in winter, race truck doesn't matter. It can not be very expensive because it takes about an hour when a skilled programmer does it. You are a dealer, you should get it even cheaper. -
Going off the videos on YouTube it seems that even boost cannot get them to idle smooth with the combination of the larger injectors and 1000hp cam.
I would say that if you had a chance to look at the programming that they cannot shorten the injector pulse width anymore to help the idle. -
Actually driving it is very easy, because you have a load against the engine and the rack travel is above the lowest setting. Now while coasting the engine does sound as if it is missing with no load on it, but you can't feel this in the truck or driveline. The truck is very linear in responding to the throttle inputs

You need to come over for a ride
I don't need those big tips. Those guys are wasting tons fuel for a little power gain after seeing the results of this. The dyno is going to be straining once this monster is awoken on the rollers -
Thanks black_dog

When he was still on this board he said he does that rough idle for purpose, for show.
Have anyone even tried to shorten the idle pulse? Not in Haneys ECM at least. C-18 with those same cams runs smooth as does marine engines. Marine fuel maps would be a good starting point, no need to reinvent the wheel when manufacturer has already done it.
I don't want the throttle response to be linear but progressive for slippery road conditions. -
Okay...........it's very PROGRESSIVE for easy drive-ability
I'm sorry I used the incorrect terminology -
So is it linear or progressive? Progressive gives most power at close to 100% pedal travel. Some programmers want to make it linear because customer thinks there's more power than there really is when a light touch of pedal gives a lot of power.
