1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Okay what now?

Okay I need some advice from my brothers in trucking. I have recently became unemployed. I was making some phone calls today to some of the larger company's they have been telling me since I haven't driven over the road in the past 8 years I will have to attend a driver school. Tri state local driving wasn't good enough even if I slept in a hotel room time to time. any advice would really help
    Thanks Jay

Tell you the truth I don't think any trucking company is going to hire you without a refreasher program.Actually if you been off the truck over 8 years I would go back to trucking school,8 years is a long time. When I was in trucking school there was a guy who had 10 years of exp but haven't drove trucks over 6-7 years and he had to attend trucking school again,he keep his class A but was in the same shoes. Its due to insurance reasons nothing personal companies gotta follow what there insurance company allow them to hire.

there is a way, stay away from the big sheety companies. I dont know how much trucking exp you have, but if you have 5+ years exp look at smaller companies that have brains....they WILL reconize your exp. You'll make more money with the small guys as well.

I never had an insurance carrier that stated anything of the sort I would hire a man like this over a school graduate anytime
More then likely it just a way for them to have ya on the hook so they get a period of indentured servitude

so if I read this right you have been using your CDL just not OTR I never could see the sense for the OTR stipulation you can ether drive the truck or not the only thing that OTR exp states to me is an ability to put up with abuse has been established
