I was on my way home from Dallas in my truck. I have been driving for a while. Over 2 million safe, violation free miles. About 10 miles from home I topped a hill. Was running between. 55 and 60 on Tx 11. My truck loss traction on all axles at once. I nor any of the investigators have been able to find out how or why the truck loss traction. My truck turned sideways and slid that way on the road for about 50 yards. When the truck left the road it started rolling. I had my seat belt on,but it did not help alot. I was thrown around the inside of the truck. When the truck finally stopped it was rolled over to where to top of the truck was facing the ground. I was pulled from the truck and taken to the hospital.
Just never become complacent and think that it will not happen to you. It was the first time in my life that I came to peace with the fact that I was going to die. I will most likely never be able to drive a truck again do to injuries from the wreck. I have massive nerve damage in my neck, back, hips, arms, shoulders, and legs.
If you are new to the road, or even a seasoned driver, please be careful and God be with you all.

OMG, thank goodness you are alright and hope you will drive again. But what could you have done differently? Sounds like it was something on the road or a mechanical error not your fault. Did the company take care of you?

Wow that is insane! I wish you the very best and a full recovery. Sounds like your wheels got some "air" at the crest and came back down at an angle were you bob tailing? Please share.

A loss of traction won't cause it to go sideways.
If you were airborn for a moment then hit pavement, that might do it.

I've been sayin this for years. Anything can happen at any time. Has nothing to do with your skill or experience. Things just happen.
One bit of advice that's saved me from injury in two major wrecks, one of which was a ranger that rolled twice at 50mph or so into the trees: drunk drivers usually escape injury because they're relaxed on impact. They're too drunk to worry about what's happening or even really notice it. Most of your injuries in a crash when nothing hits you directly, like your head striking the windshield, is from you straining against the massive forces throwing you around. If you tense up, you can be basically torn apart, so don't.Lokix Thanks this. -
The theory with catching air is something a couple people have told me about. I am inclined to believe it. I have never had a truck loose traction all over. Before. It was totally non responsive to breaks, both hand and service breaks durring the slide. Another Erie thing was for the time it was sliding across the road, there were no tread marks on the road.
My company has been good to me. They have been by my side 100 percent. They use Texas Mutual for their workers comp, and my nurse case manager is very vested in my care, and really looks after me.
I miss the road aloft. It has always been something i loved. My mother and my stepdad were bull haulers when i was growing up and i fell in love with laerge cars
