well great memories for sure this was golden age of transport

today we are all pour comparing to that time

well first versions of them were thirsty but at that time fuel was so cheap that no one take care how much did you spend for fuel

at that time ng cab was best on market latter volvo presented f10/12 scania serie 2 and other truck

but i mean in 1973 this was most superior truck cab just remember f7/8 man with non hydraulic lifting of cab ......

i am not sure how this fuller works with this this engine is very sluggish for getting rpms

when you want to dowshift a om442 or om 422 or similar engine when you are on 1000rpm you have to rev it to about 1700rpm ( whole gear) to get 1200rpm......

fuller works best on iveco or man here

They were the market leaders here , I remember when a big transporter here ordered 1500 2636 Mercs to replace the 2632 V10's.
At that time we had an all american fleet.
Mack, Oshkosh , Diamont T ,Kenworth and International.
The reason is that the Americans had an engine brake and the Merc didn't.
We never got the EVB here , once retarders arrived we started with EU trucks.
We ended up with a few of the older ones when a couple of subcontractors who worked for us retired and we took over their trucks.
As far as comfort and maintenance they were way better than the trucks we were used to.
