When you quit a company, you should ALWAYS put it in writing, especially when dealing with the big BFI companies. Its just a CYA thing that protects you from what just happened to you. I would suggest going back and getting a face to face meeting with your manager and getting this corrected.
There is a proper way to apply for and get hired and a proper way to quit, and just turning your truck in isn't one of them. -
Does anyone give 2 weeks notice anymore ?
How about a written 2 weeks notice, stamped with date and time.
Have everything in writing, dated and time stamped. Thats 101 in freight, no matter where you work. CYA always.Miss_Elli and Red Hot Mess Thank this. -
Well one nice thing is your still a young buck. You should be able to find a truck company that doesn't use dac. If your not a obese kid have you thought about joining the armed Forces?

In todays world you give a company a 2 week notice and they tell you today will be your last day because the dont want you getting hurt on the job...

I gave 2 weeks notice and worked it up until the last day when I quit my last company. They were giving me all gravy loads and pretty much begging me not to quit. I guess it all depends on the company. Yes, companies will fire a person without notice. Still, if you want to quit on good terms always give notice. Most companies even require notice. Some companies will show you the dorr as soon as you give notice. Again, what difference does it make. The whole idea is to already have a job waiting on you when you do quit. Quitting, then looking for the next job, is a half witted way to go about it.CondoCruiser and Rollover the Original Thank this.

I just brought this older thread back to life. The 2 week notice is still standard nation wide and is actually a good thing when your NEW applicant company sees that you gave a notice to quit. It does help in your process when looking for a new job as NO employer wants someone that just disappears.

The last job i quit i gave a written 2 weeks notice came in the next morning and was let go ... But i had already prepared for this, told them bye started work the following Monday. The thing is we as drivers need to do the right thing even if the companys are not willing to .
