Well i made the very biggest mistake of my life!
I had a gut Feeling when i took a job at gordon trucking that this was going to be a bad place to work at and for!
man o man i should of listen to my gut feeling!
ok their are some there that like working for gti but when you ask them why
then you find out they went through the same crap gti just put you through but then when they were about to quit they got a dedicated run no more crap!
but mostly all the driver don't like it there after they get run down by there dispatch office bobble heads first thing you will learn is everything is your fault!! hands down low miles yup there their!!!
your going to get shorted in your pay! by my truck odometer and what i got paid for and this is going by there dispatch routes i have been shorted about $3400.00 in one year
how bad do they treat there drivers one guy had a family member that passed away and they did not get him back to his terminal to go to the funeral and then told him to find his own way home! to me that is down right cold!!!
then they have allot of very angry customers and it is the driver that gets the blunt of it when you show up to pick that load up or deliver
a mass shortage of empty trailers at gordon too and when they send you out looking for one you don't get paid for all that driving but you got to log it!
then you got one safety manager telling you are logging great on the elogs then anther chewing you out for something that is legal but she does not like it they also got allot of short runs were you only get paid 2 too 15 miles for but the truck routes take you 15 too 40 they got one they pay 1 mile for but takes you 32 miles to do it! figure that one out
then you do the day cab hourly drivers jobs they love doing this to you why?? because they don't have to pay you by the hour while your sitting there!! the old timers that are left there all say the same thing since the kids took over the drivers have been getting the short end of the stick
since they are hiring student drivers all those that are getting .36cmp or more are sitting more and those that make less get all the miles
bottom end here is you all need to stay away from this outfit
if the economy overturns good again there is going to be a flood of drivers saying good by to gordon trucking / gti inc.

You say you've been in this business for 15yrs??...you haven't still been able to even learn the business in all this time?...geez!

Your complaining about the mileage pay?..I could see this coming from a rookie but not a 15 yr exp driver...but then again, nothing surprises me anymore.

So many steering wheel holders on this forum are so quick to assume it's the driver. No wonder the industry won't ever get better and you could never get truck drivers to unite. You are too busy tearing each other up. Your like animals eating the person that feeds you and then wondering why you are hungry the next day and no one is there to feed you.

Sometimes!...And I'm going out on a limb here........IT REALLY ISN'T THE DRIVER TRYING TO MAKE A LIVING. IT'S THE COMPANY THAT'S THE PROBLEM.

You don't get it either..what that driver was doing was acting like he was surprised by how co's pay with being in industry for 15yrs.

Well yes i been at this a while and yes i know the in's and out's
the thing of it is all recruiters are down right lier's or they don't really know
what truly goes on between the company chain of orders and the drivers!!
yes most big outfits the driver is nothing more then a toss away rag
what is that saying a dime a dozen!! can you say CDL MILLS??
the thing of it is you try to find that better job? don't you so you look for that job that you will feel good doing for a company that does the same for you??
    am i right or wrong??
yes any company is in business for one thing and one thing only and that is to make MONEY!!
but when companies like in are field of business know they can fill all there trucks any time because to be honest not every one visits here so do you know just who you are going to go and work for??
i stumbled onto this web site about three weeks ago at that point all i was doing was looking for a better company, well how fast things change
yep read some of the post here you can tell who the company brats are here posing as drivers! to be honest it would not surprise me if this site is backed by some big fleets or two!

Nop is right allot of people here do think it is always the divers fault not happy with the runs he or she gets, home time is nil, mileage sucks getting taken off a good run to save a run that some one messed up on then getting chewed out for it YES IT 'IS' THE DRIVERS FAULT!!!!
i also read here about union drivers laughing at us poor cpm drivers well that is true look at the billions of dollars of pay per year we all lose on line four??? any one talking about that???
how many dispatcher stay after work (the end of there shift) to help there drivers???? not many!! what well we all do if they change the HOS to 10 / 13 with a 168 hour cap???? oh don't forget that mandatory 1 hour break too!
at that point you could just about get a job in town that will pay the same then you would be home every night and home on the weekends! then what do we take a major pay cut AGAIN???? yes i have been down this road just like most of you have!!
next time you get stooped at a scale go in and ask the highway patrol officer
(DOT) that your company is shorting you on miles so do you have to flag what the company is paying you or by the odometer so what are you to do??
he will say by the odometer and for the pay go see you union rep. then you will say we are not union and he will say your SOL!!!
i don't like unions but a union will be the only thing that will stand up to thees big fleets!! BECAUSE WE WONT DO IF FOR ARE SELFS!!!!
WE ARE TOO AFFRAID TO DO ANYTHING BUT LOOK FOR A DIFFERANT JOB!!!!
AND THAT IS WHY THESE COMPANIES DO WHAT THEY DO BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH IT!!! roll over little puppy dog!!!!

all in all gordon has turned into a crappy company to drive for! the turn over rate is 60 to 70 percent now!
    so you go figure

So your saying that your load assignment on your Qualcomm actually says "loaded miles 1"? If I got a load like that I'd refuse it. Don't they have aminimum pay for short hauls? Kinda hard to believe they pay you for 1 mile on a load

It is the freaking unions that want the HOS changed because they can not compete with trucking outfits that pay based on productivity.

It is the unions that have sunk their member money into getting people elected and appointed that will do their bidding to screw over anyone who is not working for a union outfit. This is why many company's have doubled health care premiums while unions got a exception. This is why a failed company now run by unions got millions from the taxpayer to keep their plants open. This is why many company's have moved overseas to avoid card check and losing their business. This is why the Fed gov targeted and strong armed a private company (Boeing) trying to provide jobs while being competitive to not provide those jobs because they where non union.
This is why a foreign company who opened their first US plant(Ikea) is now being targeted by Unions.

Many company's in the EU are unionized which is why many are in worse shape then we are and can't pay the mountain of entailments that where promised by politicians bought and payed for by union money.

This country was founded on giving freedom to the individual to choose who they work for and what they do. Not on being part of a brainwashed collective of mediocrity that chooses for you.

I would strongly suggest that you actually read who was behind the HOS change's...The ATA and numerous public interest groups. Non union companies like Schneider and their ilk were also in support of it. Personally, I'd rather work less hours and get paid what I'm worth. And as far as politicians who were "bought and paid" for by union monies, who would that be and what did we "get" in return ? I don't see NAFTA being repealed, I don't see the EFCA passed etc...So what did "we" get ? And the last time I looked PAC's are perfectly legal. All corporations have them, even the one's you defend. If I choose to voluntarily contribute monies to my unions PAC (like DRIVE), then that is my choice. It's a job, not a "lifestyle" to some people...:biggrin_25518:
