Long ago, I used to fly cargo and US mail up and down the Front Range from Colorado through Wyoming to Montana. Even in those winds. That wasn't any fun, either, only I couldn't just stop and wait.

I'm really glad I didn't take the northern route. Went down I57 to I55 to I40 instead of I80 all the way. Would have hit those winds and that sleet/rain storm. This way was calm and dry.

Happy New Year to all of the drivers out there!! May 2012 be a safe and prosperous year for us all.
To all of the 'students' and 'wanna bes', please try to 'back off' from your 'I already know-it-all' attitudes and absorb everything you can about the trucking industry as you go through your training. If you go into it with an open mind you will learn something new every day!!
    Best wishes to you all!!

    DenaliDad Thanks this.

Got a call yesterday afternoon. "can you do us a favor?"
Wanted me to pick up a load at Ontario today and hold if for a G1 student coming out of Grandview. Load has to be pu by 1400 and he won't make it here until 1600 or a bit later.
    Not really a problem, except...
My trailer is at TK and they close friday evening until tuesday morning.
I'm at my gandson's wedding, so no trailer, no pickup ....and...the preplan they had for me (which I didn't know) was to pickup here in Boise on monday AM and run to Denver.
Sounds like I might have dodged the bullet on the winds.
Normally, I have access to TK thru SAIA's yard, but I guess they're closing this weekend too.
    So, another day.
    oh, well!:biggrin_25522:

I'm on my flight up to New Jersey to pick up my truck (inflight internet is great.) I called the DM this morning and told him to preplan me something for tomorrow am. Come to find out, there's no freight until Tuesday. So now I'm flying up to NJ to spend $300 on a hotel to sit in for 2 days until I can get a load...time that could have been spent at home with my family.

    Here we go!!

That is a good point, it could be up on blocks, or riding on a set of rusty steel wheels of a 1987 Freighty.:biggrin_2554:
