And some are saying that I could also qualify for a Pell grant too. I'm getting conflicting reports on this, with some saying the Pell grants dont qualify because CDL training is considered Continuing Education.
Has anyone on here ever got a pell grant to get CDL training? When I talked to the instructor at Greenville Tech, the only thing he mentioned was a Lottery grant...Which paid $900.00. Its not that big a deal because the cost of the training is only $1300 after the lottery assistance but if I can get the training for little of nothing, then I'm going to apply for it.
I've also read that qualifying for a grant can depend on the length of course also. Greenvilles is 9 weeks long..
Any ideas? -
Check into your state job training assistance. In 2009 I got mine paid for by the WIA. Even paid gas money for me to get there.

I am in VA and WIA and Rehab Services are paying for trucking school, books and gas.
Good luck. -
Well, in here in Hancock Co. in the city of Findlay in NW Ohio the local workforce JobSolutions agency that runs WIA apparently doesn't like giving out WIA funds very much because they basically told me that WIA funds wont be available unless I show a extensive job search listing. They did not seem to want to help me get training assistance at all. It's been very frustrating because I do not want to go to CR England or somebody similar and deal with their crap.

Same story here in UT, the workforce services was just hunting for reasons to hang onto the money, no idea why. Finally I got vocational rehab to help out. Spoke to other students and none of them could get workforce services to cough up more than half the cost. I guess it is hard to qualify at best and impossible to qualify if you have had any education after high school.

try checking at local jr college for grants
-
Sorry guys I am just posting so that I can be able to PM.

Check with your local employment service (WIN Job Center) about WIA funding, or if you were displaced due to a business closing especially due to foreign competition there may be TAA funds available. If you are a veteran, you can check with the VA and if a National Guardsman they have the "Drive the Guard" program. As far as a Pell grant is concerned if the program is a "credit" course a Pell may be an option, if not then no.

Yes on the DOT grant. Im attending a local community college and received a $1000 grant. Check into it with your school, or go to your state DOT office.
