Well My time at home was pretty cool. I wanted3 days but was alittle worried about that much time off with January comming up. As I was coming through kanasas An FM who is not mine clled and asked a favor to pick up a driver comng in for upgrade. I mentioned I was not making it to springmo that night due to my 70 being short but if the guy could drive I was cool with it. So that bought me 4 hours. I got to my house (well close read above) and had dinner with the family and we spent the night playing games. At midnight my son and I went to the truck and crashed until about 4 and headed out. At the WMDC there they have a cafeteria that delivers so my son thought that was cool. Due to illness I had to go to my mom in St. Pete. I drove my rig over the Skyway which was a big deal for us. Next day I did a bunch of stuff for my wife and called FM and told him I was ready to roll as I needed revenue. He got me a short run from FT. Pierce to the auburndale drop yard a quick little 5 hour deal. Then BT to bradenton for a run to MD. On my way to Bradenton my DEF pump goes out. But RA says run with it. Well that FL fuel plus the flat land of I95 I made it to my 90 at 8.10 MPG and my trip fuel cost was 28.13 less than the fuel surcharge.
To make it even better got to the 90 at 2100 for an 0300 delivery. I called securituy to see if I could park up there. He put me in cue. When I got there he said they were starting work @ 2300 pull into line. at 2255 they gave me a door and at 2340 I was paying the lumper. I thanked him but he said if you are coming here and can be early we will always try to honor you by being quick for you.
BURREL IS THE CODEMikeyB. and harleysmith64 Thank this. -

Must be one of those lumper services that get paid hourly.. That's crazy I've never taken that long on any truck or seen anyone at my warehouse take that long either.. We get paid % of the charge so hustle threw them as fast as we can.. Jw does prime pay your guys if you wanted to unload your own truck if so how much? Maybe something that interest me if I run reefer there since I already do it am I'm very quick at it and who couldnt use little extra $$ in there pocket
-
the option is there to unload but consider the risk. If you get hurt you are out of work. My understanding is on the company side they don't want drivers unloading due to risk I could be mistaken on this but I heard that at some point. On the lease side I will unload if it is a few pallets and light. Yes I get a few bucks for that but one little slip could cost me so I usually don't. I get reimbursed for the lumper so I let them have that risk.

headed to loisville with a load that pays less than the fl welfare juice. But It is slow so I will run and hope for better freight over there.

Yea gotta be smart just saying as myself would be something that could possible interest me if paid alright to do at times.. hopefully run into some better paying loads

well for Christmas I got a crock pot and a GF grill. WOW what a week. I had steak two nights for less than one at a TS and I made sausages in the crock pot and potroast. Even with the steaks I spent 50 bucks on food and drinks for the week. compared to 100+ for TS food. Plus It is so much faster to pull into a rest area grab dinner out of the crock and eat take a walk and roll down the road.
I put the microwave at the foot of my bed and velcro'd it to the wall and velcro'd the Grill to the top of the microwave. I put the crock on the floor when in use. It has clasps to hold the lid down. Pretty sweet. Only bad thing was the other night while waiting for a door I was watching a little TV. was so excited to get a door early I jumped up and went to the door without securing the TV. Well when it fell it ripped the antenna jack off the tv.
Last night I drove I79 and it was pretty rough. It wasn't snow and it wasn't sleet it was just ice crystals in the air. Wind was rough and the load is palletized liquids so the trailer was surging. I wanted to get to Hebron OH which was only about 5 hr drive and cheap fuel. I went into a few TS to wait it out as I had the time but no space. With little traiffic on the road I just went slow. It cleared up when I hit I70 and I made it to Hebron. The TA was packed and it took me 10 hrs to get there but hey thats trucking. I moved over to the pilot and the front of the lot looked like it was packed but in the back there was 20 spots in a row. So I park up leaving a space between me and the guy next to me. 5 minutes later a guy decided to ignore the wide open spaces and back into the one spot to my left. Well he would have hit my truck if I didn't stop him. Then he almost hit the other truck. I still can't figure out why he didn't just park in a wide open spot. -

You can see my feet? Oh well.
Ratchet strap with plastic coated hooks works great under the top bunk. I dont mind having the bunk down... Sazook gave me the suggestion. It hasnt moved the slightest in 6 weeks and is pretty snug there.
As a solo you can bungee some plastic clothes baskets for extra storage on the top bunk. Nothing two heavy in case it come loose.
In my cubby you can see my TV in the stowed position. it swivels out and tilts down nicely. They placed a nice metal plate on the passenger seat side of the cubby for weight distribution along the plastic. I highly reccomend you have the detail shop do the work... they do up to 22 or 23 inch tvs. Mine is a 19.
I have a PS3 so DVDs, Blue Rays are covered. coupled with my MyFi card the PS3 streams Hulu+ and Netflix. Coaxil antenna hook up is ok for digital signals, just depends on where you are... My computer has HDMI output so any itunes movies can be played through the TV.
I dont have a fridge so expensive installed new, and getting a used one from the detail shop is like playing the lottery (show up and ask, If they have one you get it...no waiting list etc). I might replace my cooler that fried after I loaded with 3 cases of sliced ham. -
I was looking at this for my son when he upgrades to his own truck, not sure if it will work fro him yet, because he don't know what he will get, but it may work for you.. measurements are under "product features" last entry..
and since I have a prime account, it has FREE shipping..which is why I love my prime account..hahahaha
