I treat my fuel if it's going below +25. I double treat it if it is going to be below zero.
You only need to treat the fuel if you're shut down. If you're driving, it doesn't need it.
Your fuel gels first in the fuel lines and fuel filter. Running the APU will keep the fuel in the tank from gelling (warm return fuel) but it won't protect the fuel lines to and from the truck engine, and of course the fuel filter.

I made that run before Christmas. I enjoyed that one. Wouldn't mind doing it again.
Getting to the Hershey plant in Ogden was a little confusing though. I remember it had to do with the addresses on the buildings. Just go through the industrial area and Hershey is one of the last building on the left. Has a sign on the street.flightwatch Thanks this. -
Hey guys question: is it better to drive a truck that haves a automatic trans than driving a stick shift trans... Would you guys will be less tired when driving??? How come Stevens has only manual trans instead of automatic????
-
IMHO, no it's not better. Having a manual gives me more control than an automatic would.
It doesn't make me any more tired since the majority of the time I'm in the top gear anyways.
It's Steven's choice. The same could be asked of Trans Am (who only runs automatics.) Learning how to drive a manual gives you a wider spectrum of possible employers since the majority of companies run manuals.Dieselten77 Thanks this. -
Then your ecm is programmed differently. I would still treat the fuel $20 and run the apu for 10 hours. Will burn less fuel and no exhaust fumes from the weed burner.
-
First off they are not autmatic transmissions like a car. As an OTR driver there is so little shifting it is not a concern. City driving all day I would want the auto shift.
Cost is the reason Stevens uses manual transmissionsDieselten77 Thanks this. -
There is also a 'macho' thing about shifting. There are a lot of drivers out there that just won't drive an autoshift.
Personally, it doesn't make any difference to me. I've driven both.
Also, auto shifts weigh about 300# more. When pulling reefers, that's a major weight advantage for a manual.Dieselten77 Thanks this. -
So back at the yard.. tons to fix on my poor abused truck. Anyone here by any chance? Been busy with training the past few months, but will try to update more later.
-
Truck is fixed. It was the intake temp sensor. But they have no freight here now. Good grief

When you take your truck to the KW do they hook it up to the computer right away, or do you normally have to wait, only asking cause I am taking my truck in with check engine light on tomorow. I live close and I called them they said they are open Saturdays but not Sunday. Wondering if I will be headed home for the weekend or if they can find out what is wrong through the computer. Any help is good help. Thanks, Shifty.
