I'm an experienced driver with 24 years OTR pulling a reefer. I've had 4 jobs in the last 24 years, so looking for a job is not something I do everyday.
I was with the last guy I worked with for 12 years, and the only reason I am looking for a new job is he passed away in early December due to a heart attack, he had 3 trucks and trailers and what I did for him was dispatched his other 2 trucks and myself from my laptop in the truck. After he passed away his wife had enough of trucks, trucking, and all that it entails so she sold the three trucks and trailers and unfortunately that put me out of a job. She did however give me a good severance package, but that only lasts so long when you are out of work. It was my job to dispatch, set - up (when needed) the brokers, and make sure the bills and checks were sent directly to him so that he could bill the brokers, and collect the payment.
I made sure all the people we dealt with fit the company parameters as far as credit, and payment history went. I was trusted to make the decisions on where we sent the trucks and the reloads. In return for all of this, I was paid a salary, plus allowed to "deck" the truck out as I saw fit. I was raised in this industry and one thing that I was taught that "your truck is the business calling card, so a sharp looking truck and trailer meant that you take care of business, and that is what shippers and receivers along with some brokers see and that's important to me and the owner of the company.
All of my experience has to do with reefer freight, since I am based out of Arkansas, we hauled a lot of frozen chicken and turkey's out of this area. I also have extensive contacts in the produce area as most of the "backhauls" we had dealt with various produce from banana's and cantaloupe to lettuce and carrot's. I learned where the best paying lanes are, and what time of year to be in that area. I learned what the rates were for a lane coming out of the area going into another. It might sound like a big order, but I didn't have much down time looking for freight for any of the trucks Jesse had.
I am looking for a small company to drive for as I have found that smaller companies allow me to have a little more input as to where to go and what to haul. I feel that I would be an asset to a smaller company with my contacts in the industry.
I do however have 1 speeding ticket on my license from June of 2009 in Ohio. I have an accident in July of 2011, but was NOT cited and no tickets were issued as a result of the lady pulling out in front of me. Her car was towed, and that's the only reason it even shows up on my MVR.
I will say this, if I feel comfortable in the truck I'm driving for you, I do not require to be home every weekend. I'm single and ask that I am sent through Arkansas at least once a month to check my mail, and pay a few bills. Other than that I have been known to stay on the road for 2 to 3 months at a time. If I need to get out of the truck anytime, I will (if time allows) just get a hotel room for a night or two, and then I'm good to go again.
Here is what I'd like to see. I'd like to get paid every week, I'd like to have some kind of say as to the lanes I drive. Although I'm not scared of NYC, I will go there if the company can make money, but otherwise it has been my experience that you make good money going in and nothing coming out.
I will check my messages frequently so if I can be an asset to you or your company please contact me as I am needing a job.
Thank you for reading this, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Even though the "severance" package was good, it was not enough to make a down payment on a truck. I'd rather drive for a small company, if I can find one, and allow my knowledge and contacts to follow me there and possibly help someone out.
I know why I want to do this, I love this industry (sick huh?) every aspect of it. I wouldn't trade everything I've learned in for anything in the world (except maybe a weekend with Lindsey Lohan). -
Lindsey Lohan???? Come on man, aim a little higher. Snooki seems like she'd be fun.
