Perhaps there is a better way of wording. All trailer tires and drives are Super Singles.

Just giving you a hard time. Seriously though, you need to learn somewhere. Although personally I think you should have been trained, lots of us were not trained to drive a truck in the winter weather conditions. I'm sure you will do fine, just don't push yourself too far out of your comfort zone. No one likes to drive in it, but its part of the job. Do what you can and then find a safe place to call it a day. Each time you go out in the snow you will gain some experience. Use extreme caution, and don't let anyone push you to do something you're not comfortable with, especially with your speed! You will learn like we all did. If you are really uncomfortable with it, please do find a safe place to park though. A wreck in the snow/ice can easily be deadly.

Take I15 to I215 at SLC then 80 east to Kearney. 1444 miles.

Being from south Louisiana I can sympathize. The best advice I can think to give you is don't do anything you don't feel safe doing. I was just like you. Got sent out to drive in the snow and ice with no training. I kept rolling until I felt like I was out of my own personal safety zone then I parked. The biggest thing about learning is knowing your limits. Good luck and be safe.

most seasoned drivers run I-15 to I-80 this time of year not I-70. just common sense.

Pretty sure the forecast is for the storm to extend from Durango up thru Montana. Does 80 tend to be a better winter route?

well i agree that winter driving is part of the job...but if the op hasnt EVER driven in bad weather and is nervous...telling him to just do it...isnt the right answer..HIS LIFE AND OTHERS could be in danger... if you are scared you are more likely to make a mistake, not to mention not really knowing what to do in the first place....and I 70...c'mom ppl...you know how vail can be...if you are that uncomfortable...i would def. seek a different route....he needs to be broken in gently...not across vail in the winter..IMO

It's better than 70, but not much if the storm hits it too. You may still want to consider the southern route.
I do Minneapolis to L.A. a lot and I have no issues avoiding the weather by taking the southern route, but it is the last option because of the added miles. I avoid I70 except with lite loads and good weather.
I will also say, don't commit to any route until right before you leave. The forecast often changes drastically this time of year out west.xlsdraw Thanks this.
