What is this computerized dispatch thing? I normally don't get moving til around 10:00 am but I am good all night. I'm a night person by living. I have been graveyard shift at work for 5 years now. If a DoT person comes up and knocks on your truck while your on the 34 hour reset can you get in trouble?
*Edit*
We got to drive today! My first lap around the course was sketchy. Second and third were way better. I can double clutch up shift just fine. I am still having a little trouble with down shifting taking to long but I got the jist of it. All in all I seemed to be doing quite good. My only problem is braking. I tend to hit the brakes a bit to hard... WELL HELL! I used to drift high powered cars! Gotta get used to tapping the brake. I parallel parked just fine, well, at least I didn't get yelled at. This poor man after me couldn't do it to save his life! He ended up on the curb and almost through the fence. I went down and took all my tests. Failed combination by 1 question. But all in all I didn't study for any of them. I read them all about 2 months ago. I didn't read pre trip at all and I passed that with a 100%. I went out and DID a pre trip yesterday.
Tomorrow... Map reading... Joy. I am gonna cook now, just got back from Walmart with all kinds of food (I'm a cook by training over 8 years). -
If DOT or any officer interrupts your time off, either your ten or reset, it ends and you have to clock it as on duty while dealing with him. When your business is done, then you restart your ten or reset. And Stevens will never consider you in trouble if this happens. Ever. They may have to repower your load or change your appointments, but you will never be in 'trouble' for it. Unless of course you did something stupid that caused the officer to come knocking. lol
A couple of months ago I was getting the ALT error on my APU. It happened all night one night, then once the next night, but never again. Now it's back, and doing it constantly. Looks like this time I have to get it fixed.
The scary thing is I am in Arizona and delivering in Texas, so I'm worried I might have to have it done on the yard. UGH -
Hey, come say hi to me

*Edit* OH MY FREAKIN GODZILLA!!! These pans are HORRIBLE!!! I'm a pretty dang good cook and I'm making something SIMPLE and the #### is all burnt on the sides and sticking and UHG. I miss my Teflon pans! -
Smkr, try and get it to TK.
ALT is your alternator.
Means it isn't charging.
If you're lucky, it's the belt. If you're not, it's the alternator.
The yard will simply send it over to TK in Ft Worth. -
Smokr TK in irving fixed mine. Just have stevens call ahead and let them know you are coming. That way you will get same day service. Had my recall done there for a bad radiator.

No as smoker posted, I learned my lesson about taking a 34 in a rest area in NY. 32 hours in and KNOCK-KNOCK. Level 2 inspection, I was P-OFF'ED to say the least. I was near my 70 when I stopped, so his little game costed me time/money. I asked since they were going to work the rest area the whole day could he come back in 2 hours so I could get my hours back. His reply: log book, cdl, med card. NOW..... thank you.
This could of been avoided by stopping 1-1/2 hours back in Rotterdam at the Pilot, stopped to take a shower should of stayed put!!
20/20 you know. But NOOOOOOO I wanted to get as close to my pick in Plattsburgh as possible to maximize my hours.
This is just one of the many joys you will encounter out here

TLea did you get your coolant problem fixed on your truck?? Just curious as I was having the same problem and it was the egr cooler.
-
I couldn't imagine spending 34 minutes in a rest area let alone 34 hours.
-
My thoughts exactly.
I can see doing a 10 hr break in a rest area, but not a 34.
If i plan to do a 34, then i find a nice quite TS and park in an out of the way place.
Then, unless some idiot backs into you, no worries about being interrupted.
