SCR (Diesel exhaust fluid) Equipment on Highway trucks.

  1. Already happened. I rented a truck last week with SCR. They made sure I knew that DEF went into the little tank. They said they had a guy fill the DEF tank with diesel. It sat at Cummins for almost a month.

    SCR pump will fail! may be fire from exaust.

    so it is bad thing. we gad to remove and flush tank, flush all lines, replace SCR unit and program it!

    dealer have oil products in SCR tests. If they see there was diesel fuel ore gas - they reject warranty
     
  4. The truck I had with an ISX Cummins, EGR, and SCR ran like the brakes were dragging. I wouldn't say better throttle response, or power.

    Renting that tractor last week made me decide I'll never own one. Now, I've had a few guys tell me that the European trucks with SCR and NO EGR valve run really good.

    EGR.....the scurge of the trucking industry. OK, well, ONE of the scurges in the industry.:biggrin_2559:

    I have the time to look at as much information that I can and it seems the newer system does open new avenues to more power. It is like anything else you would want to try every option, and make the decision with the most information you can find. If you love a certain colour engine that is great, having a lot of chrome that is great, extra lights, driving a truck with the aero package of a brick, good for you. If you want something that will make you money, then you want all the information you can get. Then go around to the different dealerships and see what the problems they are having.
    One of the smarter truckers I know went from the pre-EGR and has bought the new engines, as additions to his fleet. Time will tell if it the correct decision, it always does.

    what Cummins recomend do if ad-blue tank was filled with diesel? DO NOT START ENGINE AND CALL LOCAL DEALER!

    the other way- disabel SCR - pull fuse/unplug SCR unit with pump and with engine derate drive to place you can pump out diesel fuel, remove tank for flush, remove all SCR hoses! and flush them! May be you'll be happy and SCR pump will run

    how much can diesel exhaust fluid be diluted with water without causing problems?

    32.5% +- 1.5% Urea to water mixture

    Yep, so selfmade DEF may be used easily.

    DEF differs. Some manufacters use discilited water, some demeniralized.

    Deminaralized water is not so good becouse it may plug catalitic cinverter in 2-3 years.

    if you want to save money on adblue you can bypass SCR you can make software change to disable it

    maybe your trucks can run without ad blue without power restriction but dont mess with water or anything else than good quality adblue
