there's an auction coming up that i might attend. they have a couple of stepdeck trailers i may see about bidding on.
my question is. what are those risers called that drivers use to haul 60ft. rebar on stepdecks? so that they have a straight area. and where do you get them?
what's this part called for stepdecks?

They are called "bunks". You can buy them from trailers sales outlets or just get soemone to build you a set.

Also known as bridges.

Would that also be the same as load levelers? If so DiscountRamps.com
I have couple extras sides for these if interested?SHC Thanks this. -
Load levelers, risers, bridges, etc. I don't think you would haul 60' rebar on a step dekc with levelers. Rebar is to flexible and would sag between the levelers. The are normally used for something rigid like beams.
Oscar the KW and SHC Thank this. -
Depends on how many risers you have. If you have a Reitnour and enough risers you could make a stepdeck into a flatbed. On my MAC I could put a riser in every set of stake pockets. Obviously, it would be pointless to carry that many risers...but you could.

Yes there are lots of things a person could do. I don't know many people that carry more than 2 levelers. I am also not sure I would haul 60' rebar. Even on a 53' trailer you would be hanging 5' off the back. That doesn't seem very safe. Combine that with the "great" rates rebar normally pays and I don't see how the numbers would work.

If you hauled 15 bridges around, you'd have no room for freight!
I have equipment for two bridges with my ramps, yet have never seen a load that paid enough to set them up, so far. -
our yard is up north utah close to idaho border on the 15.
we haul to albuquerque, tucson, and vegas. and sometimes to missoula and billings.
a 53 foot trailer would be perfect. you can hange over 4 feet in the front. (idaho allows 5 feet) leaving only 3 feet in the rear. you don't need flags or lightbar untill the rear overhang is 4 feet.
arizone requires permits after 7 feet. and only sells 1 day or 30 day. but the 30 days require the exact same rear overhang. it can't be different.
new mexico requires permit after 8 feet. and albuquerque requires a seperate permit.
don't know what it is in colorado. they come out and measure. then wave us through. i'm thinking it must be 10 feet rear overhang before a permit is required.
we have yearly permits for utah and nevada.
our trailers are 48 feet flats. so we have 4 feet front overhang. 8 feet rear overhang.
we're home every week. so our first load out is rebar. we deal direct with shipper. no brokers.
i'm hoping to start hauling different kinds of freight. and possibly more oversized.
i'm leased on. with a trailer rental. thus the reasoning of getting a stepdeck that would be my own trailer and no more rental. -
60' material on step decks with bridges is done all the time. Yes even on rear and it is safe to hang off the front and back. The issue about sagging is true for smaller diameter bar, but if you're hauling 60' #10 bar for example, there is not much flex in that!
Also, if you're going to I vest in bridges for a step deck, I would get the kind that double as loading ramps for equipment. Why limit yourself?
