Just my opinion....
I worked for CalArk then became an O/O through there lease purchases program and went to there sister company, Central Hauling.
Biggest mistake of my life was leasing from AEL.
I ended up giving my truck back even though I'd paid it off, I just owed too much on maintenance, and AEL was taking my whole check for the last 9 months not giving me the deferments every time I spent a week in the shop, while they decided if it need the repairs or not. (6 fuel leaks in as 12 weeks, each requiring between 2 and 8 days in the shop. Several shops said the engine needed rebuilding, they said it didn't and would not authorize the proper repairs.)
Central Hauling screwed me after taking an over length hit because they wouldn't fix the trailer until after I delivered the load which meant I had to go over the FL scales.
A few months later, I got fired for saying the F word.
There was a dispatcher that had used the F word several times towards me before hand, but she never was fired.
CalArk trucks are leased by CalArk through AEL. CalArk drivers are offered a 0 down lease through AEL to become O/O but have to leave CalArk for Central Hauling or a handful of other companies, that may or may not take there truck.
Again, just my opinion, STAY AWAY....RUN WHILE YOU CAN!!!!!!!! -
When I requested another truck because they couldn't seem to fix the one I had, Rebecca told me that I could have any of the "older" trucks but not one of the newer ones, I guess because I haven't been there long enough.
The company is cheap, no getting around that, but I had been off the road for over a year and they hired me. I didn't have a lot of choices. One of the reasons they will hire people other companies won't (I had back surgery) is that their health insurance is so bad that you can't possibly cost them anything in claims.
The people are nice and the miles are generally very good. I have only been to New England once this year which is fine by me. There has been no problem getting home when I need to. Don't have enough hours to run? No problem, they relay or reschedule. I've never been asked to do anything illegal and now I'm on electronic logs, so I can't.
Not a bad company, not great but there are a lot of people that have been working there for a long time. -
The reason for my comment was because that was all I ever saw in one of the "newer trucks". Just a FYI, we just drove by the yard and saw 2 of the newer Prostars on the back lot where they keep trucks that are not assigned to anyone. Maybe you might want to give her a call again?
My husband no longer works for them, he left in the beginning of October. I wish you luck ladytrucker, be safe out there! -
After all my foibles with PAM they SEEM to be ready to hire me.
Best or Worse or somewhere in the middle if they will take me I will go. -
Nope. Somebody at PAM either told 'em on the phone or faxed 'em something that quelled the deal!
-
Design transport is better than calark 100%.
-
Wouldn't matter if it was a 10 hour a day job get home nights and weekends.
I blew it at PAM. -
Do any of you know... do they pay their company drivers for dead heading or bob tailing? Same as loaded?
