but here in europe it would be impossible to find parts and mechanics for fuller at least here maybe in some bigger country you could find them
if there is no clutch servo this would be nightmare for driving
lot of shifting because it is not syncro
impossible to sell later
no retarder....
since most of operators dont have trucks for longer than 7years there should not be problems in this period with zf -
I had problems with the ZF 's in the first year! Both of them -
We have parts because Sisu is using them and they have servo. No retarder needed if DAF engine brake.
Behind a 700 hp Iveco ZF broke after 2 years when driving at 60 tonnes. But usually they are not that bad. -
well we dont have them and people are afraid of fuller
if we talk about daf in new zeland than intarder seems like very necessary thing
astronic or manual
if i am right this should be truck from your friend for timber?
maybe this cause problems
however before ZF was very good gearbox , but somewhere from 1995 and latter they starting to lose they quality
when mercedes started to build they own gearbox they were disaster later they were improved and already on actros mercedes have better gearbox than ZF on MAN
we have 25year old ZF never opened (always driven by good drivers) -
really I love fuller for lower repare cost and better reliability. less parts inside.
And as I can see in shops, spare parts here are usually made in EU, Eaton, France -
It is hauling grain and other cargo, always heavy loads. It was the splitter part that broke, maybe not power related, might just have been a bad example.
Yes I always thought that ZF is a strong box, I drove old TurboStar with ZF and they were almost indestructible. -
I agree Fuller are easy to operate and repair.
It is also possible to skip gears if need be.
Driving a non syncro is not difficult at all once you have learnt how. -
I was wondering the same thing about that motor, since the only motor for me is the 550 3406E CAT with 1850 torque 3:55 rears and a 13 speed behind it in a 379 Petercar aka Large Car!!!!

The Fuller 13 speed 'boxes were the best ones that ever came into our yard....they were just endless and indestructable in the service they gave....we often retorfitted them to V10 Mercedes in the 1980's and it made a good truck great. I used to love the fast clutchless gear shifting and once you had the cluch brake adjusted correctly, they were a pleasure to drive. Actually,if you think about it....they were the closest thing to an autoshift all those years ago....when in the hands of a skilled driver.
