Meanwhile others are paying for a spot to park on hometime or driving over hours because the lot is full.
It doesn't matter if you buy fuel and other things. They don't owe a driver anything. They sell you a product at an agreed price. End of story. You do have a rewards card. I didn't know POV parking was one of the perks.
Like others said there is a huge parking shortage in this country. IMO, thinking a truck stop is your own private parking lot is disrespect to to other drivers and the truck stop. Use it for your 10. Use it for your hometime. The daily park my POV and truck there is taking it a little too far.
There's several that do that at the Bloomington, IL Pilot and Des Moines Pilot plus a few others I know of. You're tired and need to sleep and can't find a spot because all the local drivers do the same thing. Who cares about you? They are home asleep is all that matters.
We're all on even ground. Nobody deserves special treatment over another. If you can't park at home, park at the terminal or rent a spot at an RV storage. I even run across small trucking companies that'll rent out spots.
Thank god the truck stop thinks like many drivers and polices their own lot.
Got my but kicked out!

I guess our Sapps is different. There is a separate area for the local drivers to park their personal vehicle for the day/week, and then the truck parking area. I know that there's limited parking everywhere, but I just hate it when they sock it to drivers like this.
Although I do have to say, we "rent" a spot inside a fenced yard for the truck and trailer, when needed, because the TS, for us is too far away, and there has been a rash of siphoning going on around here. -
I looked for a place to park in Denver for two hours one night. Maybe more. Finally I found some run place out of town with what looked to be a truck graveyard. But at least I found one. Sure is tough being OTR new to an area pull in and see everything filled up with.......everything but trucks. You guys ever think maybe a guy was forced to park in a dangerous place because of this practice and was in turn hurt, robbed, or fined. Not something I would want on my mind. But when I got on the CB and asked where are some spots that might have parking the reply "if you don't know where to park around here use the ###&$$# ditch" so maybe that says it all. At times I wonder then others I don't. Sad but true. Thanks to all you drivers who are respectful and helpful out on the road.

Was parked in the mid valley around Fresno a couple years back. A POV in the space next to me, but back to where his front bumper was about even with my rear drives.
Dark lot. Pretty late.
Another truck pulled up, backed in and shoved that little pickup all the way back into the field behind us. I woke up to the commotion, police lights and an upset driver.
Seems the truck that did the shoving didn't see or even know that little pick up was there. He finished backing in, hopped it the sleeper and was awoken by the owner who had been using the POV to reserve a parking spot.
What a mess!
But to be honest? I got a good chuckle out of it.Hammer166, otherhalftw, SHC and 3 others Thank this. -
I know right but they got the cheapest diesel on the 99 so I stop there often but its really irritating.
