Ya, if they need that long, there's a problem. Some text book info, some common sense, and the abillity to think for yourself is about all you need! Anyone who thinks otherwise has been brainwashed...
I started at Watkins Shepard in December in Montana, first load was through the mountains over Lookout Pass, and down 97 through OR. (And yes, I had to chain.) That was over a year ago now.. I don't regret never having a trainer. A second set of eyes in the truck would have been nice the first week though, but not necessary.
But anyway, to the OP, I recommend Watkins Shepard.
HAMADOWN Thanks this. -
we wont hire someone that has less then 2 years on a cdl because of insurence i had 2 years on mine but no actual experience aside from growing up around trucking I had to BS a lil to snag the job but for some reason owner took me under his wing and pretty much beat me for 2 weeks while he was riding shotgun to mold me in to a better driver.
Now im only second to the owner and anyone that gets hired has to go through me. the boss doesn't really have time to deal with new drivers anymore so he just gave me the responsibility and trusts my judgement......im not trying to sound ####y i still have a lot to learn its just how my situation ended up -
You still fit into the realm of 'rookie' - your info says' 0 - 1 years experience.
Nevermind, someone beat me to it... -
Yeah I got my letter from Watkins and Shepard...I am very happy about that because they were my first choice of company...Done with school on Jan 30th..test out on 31st..Vegas for a week then start Jan 13th at W/S...
