The code you have is for an electrical issue. The ECM has no idea where the valve is at any time. Since you said that you took the valve apart and "guts" fell out, there is no telling whats going to happen once the ECM does see the valve position. but yes, the only way to fix that code is to replace the position sensor. You would probably be better off replacing the whole valve. That's just my $.02

4956084 on eBay comes up as ISB egr position sensor. ISB and isx share this part number, same sensor ?

Duramaxxed, hi! New to the forum, wanted to know if i give you the codes from my diagnostics test could you get me past the egr issue without having any further problems? Have an 05 450isx codes related to the egr are 1228, 2348, 2357 and 2359, thx!

If you're talking about an EGR from an ISX CM870, it is not field serviceable. The wire going into the silver cylinder is the stepper motor control, the other plug is the EGR position. If you took it apart, you ruined it since the unit does have to be timed. The code is EGR Valve Position Circuit - Voltage below normal, or shorted to low source crosses to a cummins code 2272. The valve does need to be replaced if this code is triggered due to a failed position sensor. If that is the only code active, replace the valve. If there are other codes active, please list them and I'll try to help you out the best I can.

Hello I have a 06 vnl 670 with isx 500, getting codes MID128 PID 131 Data Erratic, MID128 PID27 FMI 3 Electric fault, MID128 PID27 FMI 13 out of Calibration, I'm looking to disconnect egr also. My email is Timthetrucker15@gmail.com ty
