I realize with my last post, getting one final jab in at the Freightliners, that I will be once again villified for posting my opinion (which is what these forums are for, but I guess not mine) it's time for me to take a hiatus from the May forum. Too much complaining going on lately (I realize that freight is slow, and MANY people are sitting, and getting unstandably frustrated)and that any time I try to post something positive, it gets quickly dismissed or discredited.
I joined this board, and joined May because of this particular forum, and the wealth of information contained therein.
I would like to remind everyone that the May (and other companies) subforum(s) are as under:
Trucking Company DAC Reports Submit Your DAC Report on Trucking Companies. Were they good or bad when you drove for them?
with the subheading of:
Discuss May trucking company with other truckers. Ask questions, get answers. Is May Trucking a good company for truck drivers?
So, apparently, because I am having a good experience with May, I'm either shilling for the company, lying, or 'performing special favors' to have my experience.
I will also point out, that if things are so bad, in this Trucking Company DAC Reports Submit Your DAC Report on Trucking Companies. Were they good or bad when you drove for them? subforum alone, there are no less than 65 companies listed...APPLY THERE! We are not under contract, you are free to take your ball elsewhere to play. We live in a free market economy (though not for long if we re-elect or prez, but I digress lol)
If the repeat offendors (continuously complaining/negative parties) spent 1/2 as much time trying to change their situation, as they did complaining about it...
The negativity is a huge unnecessary turnoff, and while I understand that the forum's demeanor goes to both good and bad aspects of the company, most everyone on here would have you believe there is NO good to May.
I take great pride in both my job, and my company. I take personal offense to the unjust bashing, and because of it, I feel the need to take a break from the forum. Not that anyone here cares lol
I just want the new/potential new guys to understand that there IS positive, not to just believe the negative on here. If you want to hear about the great things with May (and there are plenty, but they depend on you to make them happen) feel free to PM me. I have spoken to quite a few potential employees thru PM and phone calls. Anyone who has ever talked to me knows I call it like I see it, and that you get back whatever you put in. It seems most have forgotten this last part, and choose to just blame everyone else.
I wish everyone the best of luck, and feel free to contact me, for a no BS, no whining answer, with any questions relating to May,
hiatus time- so long gang!

But why you gotta go cant you post besides the May forum? You got your feelings hurt by other Mays' get over it man. Your having a good experience thats all that matters, same thing where Im at for some reason I get in 3000 miles a week and some of my co workers barely scratch 1500 and I get dirty looks and stupid comments but I don't care. Well if you decide to stay or leave good luck driver.

Happens to me too. I don't work for May, I work for England but the same thing happens to me as well when I try to say good things about England. I don't know how many times I've been called a company shill, or cheerleader, DM or recruiter in disguise. Seems to me that too many people that come these forums asking questions need to make their own decisions and stop taking the advice from all the so-called "experts". Even if one does fail, you can't say it was because of all the "I told you so's". More than likely, if you failed, it was because of your OWN doing. I've been leasing with England for 2 years and one month and I don't consider myself as failing. If I was, I would of gotten out of it a long time ago. I've always been the type to not be a quitter and put forth extra effort but that only goes so far before you realize you got yourself into a bad position and that nothing you do will improve. That hasn't happened to me and I highly doubt it will.

I just started here at May Trucking and just got my truck (whistling Pete) on Monday in Payette. I om on hometime out of the Brooks terminal until Saturday so I don't know about any sitting yet. I hope to make the best out of any situations that come up. I have already experienced a few while in training so I know they happen. I hope to meet you out there on the road somewhere. My truck # is 4682.

Just curious if you would be willing to disclose what your taxable income was at CRE on your 2 year lease ?
How will the 168 hours between restarts affect your income ? I've heard it will reduce income by 15% or more . -
First and foremost, I don't think this is the proper thread to discuss this.
Second, its a three year lease and I'm just a wee bit over my second year in it.
Third, why do you want me to disclose this information to you? Are you doubting me that I'm not doing as good as I say I am?
Lastly, what do you mean by the 168 hours between restarts? -
Why would it matter?
If they posted the figures and they were good, most of the people would accuse them of fabricating the information.
The same would be for a tax return. You and others would claim it was false or fabricated.
The same could be said if you posted your financial information.corneileous Thanks this. -
I haven't seen anything that says how well you are doing . We saw one post where a L/O netted less than $275 a week . Some may consider that a success , others not .
As for 168 hours between restarts it begins in July and will greatly affect L/O's that push max hours to survive . http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/topics/hos-final/qanda.aspx
Operators running to the max using the current restarts to the greatest advantage will have their potential income cut by 15% or more -
You don't need to do a restart every week to be successful. As a "professional driver" you should be able to figure your hours and make them work for you. There's no reason if you are a good trip planner and don't waste time, you couldn't work off that back 8 days. We only got this 34 hour restart back in 2003. Before then we kept working off our back 8 days, until we took a week off. And we all made money doing it that way. C'mon. The only person stopping you from making money is you.

Well, I can assure you we probably aren't doing as well as what your idea is of doing well but for two people teaming with only 2.5 years experience, we feel we're doing just fine.
I take it this was a solo?
We make far more than that on a weekly basis. Usually average a combined net income of around a thousand every week. As I said, its not what most would consider outstanding but keep in mind, we're still new. We run for a starter company. We leased a new truck with the intention of finishing it through. After that, we may move on to another company that pays their drivers more for what they are worth.
Well, I guess because of this its a good reason why we choose not to run typical CRE team miles where we have to rely on restarts all the time.RickG Thanks this.
