Sat in court all day today and saw all kinds of stupid things. My guy, was driving suspended. He was from another State, but had 15 tickets in my State that had never been paid, never went to court, just basically blew them all off. They dated back to 1989. How in the world his State never found out about those tickets in beside me. I guess the reason why is because he kept jumping State to State changing his CDL every few months. Well, that all ended today. His CDL will now be disqualified for the period set forth in 383.51. He is also sitting in a jail cell tonight and for the next 364 nights. His tickets totalled over $3,000. Many of them speeding in a car, some 30 and 40 mph over the limit. A few license suspensions, tag and insurance violations. 3 red light/stop sign violations. I talked to him before the trail and he basically said to me his motto was "F it, they will never catch up with me." Granted he was a younger man in his twenties when a majority of the tickets occurred. But now he is in his low 40's with a family. The last three of 4 years he has been stopped once or twice a year, far less than what he used to get. His right foot would get him stopped by me on the day I inspected for 25 over the limit. It was a sad day to see him cry like a baby and tell his family goodbye. Why and how did it get to this point? Because when he was young and dumb he thought no one could tell him what to do. He continued that philosphy until recently. It wasn't something that I partically wanted to see, but the judge had saw enough of his actions.
Just some of the stupid things I see

Maybe just a small bit for his family though.
I learned in my three years working custody that they pretty much all EARNED their way into the jailhouse.Brickman Thanks this. -
You're right, he did earn it. His kids didn't though. That's the part that bother's you, not the thought of him. When I used to run calls all the time and lock a lot of folks up, they deserved what they got. But the families were the ones that really suffer in that. -
What bugged the hell out of me was visiting days. When mamma would load up all the little kiddies to go see daddy in jail. Obviously, it made jail just another part of life as far as these kids were concerned. . .
