I love Werner. Can't have much in writing till you give all your info then after they check you all out and you sign for orientation then get through with trainer. ( only basic stuff ) Then if they want to hire you you'll have it all in writing. They would waist alot of time doing that for people that are calling companies for info in writing or wanting email. Companies do hire new drivers for dedicated runs. Most truckers like sitting on their butt all day. Dedicated y'all talk about consist of loading and unloading. Which is good for the body! So most don't want them runs. They are not suckering you in.
Werner refuses to put offer in writing

Wasn't talking bad about Werner i think they have alot to offer me + being one of the closer terminals is an advantage. (for my personal situation)
I was just speaking from my experience so far 3 other companies have laid everything out (signed-faxed etc...) like op said just agreeing with him in the sketchy concern of commitment. -
Usually if you turn on the cruise control it will over-ride the auto shut down and will allow the truck to idle as long as need be. Might not work on your truck, but it has worked on all the trucks that I've driven. Can't hurt for you to try it anyway.

Thanks but I have tried that, also tried leaving a box on the fuel pedal to keep it at 1200rpm. It still shuts down.

Sounds to me like they just used that dedicated route to bait the hook for you and you didn't bite. Kudos to you fatback.

Following your logic carriers would be liable for lawsuits if they call you in for orientation and subsequently fail to hire you. I see nothing wrong with asking for route, company main traffic, pay and other benefits information in writing. I would be very very leary of any carrier whom is recalcitrant with providing this information. You are right about some of these recruiters though. I quit my job just yesterday, and spoke with another company recruiter late yesterday evening. This person told me a lie, I knew it was a lie instantly and hung up. I am starting orientation Monday week with another company.

Call a dealership service technician and ask them if it can be overridden. The inability to idle constantly could be construed as a severe danger in some extreme climates. I wouldn't drive a truck that I couldn't control.

There is a little switch beside my ignition, I'm thinking maybe a shutdown over ride? I'm gonna call maintenance today. Since my truck doesn't have an APU we're supposed to be allowed to idle. My bunk heater on full blast only kept my truck at 50* inside. Not warm enough for me

All the newer trucks (pro stars and cascadias) that Roehl bought are tuned so crazy that theres literally almost no way to keep them idling. They have the battery packs, and they suck. I'm hoping to keep my '07 until she blows up haha
-
They all have fuses which can be pulled to override the shutdown. Most are located in the sleepers. A little research on the good ol' internet should narrow down your particular truck. The trucks also have codes that you can do to overide the idle. Your companies shop isn't going to help you on this one so you will have to figure it out for yourself.
Took me 15 minutes to find it the first time!
DrtyDiesel Thanks this.
