I've seen this type of trailer before. Arbor Freight (now Ruan) in Eau Claire , WI and another carrier use this type of trailer to haul steel coils out of Alcoa in Evansville,IN. They have been doing it for years.

You totally missed the point of that picture. It's not that only door slammers #### up. It's the question of why when you put four thin aluminum walls around flatbed freight does it not need to be tied down anymore? That's the point of that picture.
-
These trailers have D-Rings inside the trailer in the floor on the left and right sides starting at the nose all the way to the tail. The D-rings were bolted to the frame through the floor... each d-ring was about 2 feet apart if I remember right. Then use 4 inch straps from d-ring... over coil... back to the opposite d-ring.
just like a flatbed... except for the tarp! -
Yea I saw that in the video and that's great. I was really commenting on the picture that jfaulk put up because I would bet that van didn't have securement points just like most vans don't have securement points.
-
And how many vans use "D" rings or chain ties? Now how many use blocks nailed to the floor?
Exactly! A load lock is "securment" to most van guys, great for toilet paper, not for coils!Logan76 Thanks this. -
Let the DOT catch a flatbed hailing coils with straps....not gonna be pretty. Here in IN they have been working hard on us steel haulers and doing inspections everyday.

I've never been heavy enough to need a pusher truck but the guys I've talked to told me they don't usually hook one up until 350k or better. Sounds like you were in Pieance Creek and yea it was busy around there when you were there I've moved rigs down there quite a bit.sweetdaddy915 Thanks this. -
