With that being said, drivers who are more responsible and care about the company and it's equipment get paid more than the destructive job hoppers that threaten to shoot everybody over anything with very bad attitudes.

You weren't there...Although it is highly probable that the driver did something that possibly aggravated the situation it does not negate the fact that even if he ran the thing into the ditch intentionally....You cannot hold him financially liable for it legally!

You can fire him but that's it.

I would probably not shoot him...But he'd wish I did.

    Fixed that for you....

That tactic works too, But even when you find out the truth....The driver is not financially responsible for it.

The extra weight would make his truck get .00000000000000000000001 fewer MPG so there'll never be a set installed.:biggrin_2559:

Well well, I suppose us small compny owners should just suck it up and pay for all the screwups you guy's can figure out to get into? And while were at it, we should prolly provide a way to and from work too huh? Seriously, the attitudes some of you had make me think a lttle bit of entitlement, Pavel don't let these guys pull the wool over your eyes. Not everything that a driver can #### up is your responsibility. This situation you're describing is a tough one to call. Yes if following too closely, than the driver might be somewhat liable. But it's also one of those bang bang things that can happen. If this was the dude who disappeared for a couple days,or if this is the latest in a series of ####ups than that might change the picture.

Drivers there are without a doubt somethings that cannot be helped, been there done that. But there are also situations where YOU, the capitan of the ship, the master of the vessel, are responsible to make wise decisions. That is no one else that can do it for you. If you decide to pull out a drive that is too tight and drop the trailer down in the ditch, than it's YOUR tow bill. You made that decision, not the owner. If you ignore your companies dispatched directions and clip an overpass, or get a ticket for being in a no truck zone, that's on you. YOU made the decision to do that. Grow up and deal with the consequences of your actions !

Why don't you try a little experiment,, try to just imagine that you are following a truck at a safe distance for your speed, let's say 65mph, imagine that the truck in front of you has hit something in the road,,can you "HONESTLY" tell these good people on here that "YOU" could see this object in time to "SAFELY" avoid it?

What if he was only following too close because another driver had just passed him and he was in the process of putting some distance between them?

Now this is a great point,, as are many.

But most are companies and general public are always out to try to put the blame on the truck drivers.

So if a company driver is involved in a wreck that is not his fault and totals the truck, should he have to pay the deductible for the company? Absolutely not!

This guy Pavel is nowhere to be seen because his question is stupid. There are companies out there that try to nickel and dime drivers to death. Many get away with it. These owners and companies that operate like this, need to be taken out of the trucking industry and banned! Get caught again and go to jail. These are the same companies that are getting rich having drivers drive for .25 cpm or paying 50% after fuel...
